That's pretty spiffy, did they provide a price?
Does Setec also deal in astronomy? Too many secrets. By coincidence I saw Sneakers last week, it's such an enjoyable movie.

Hi Feng, waiting for a price , no idea of their other products

Sorry I was joking about other products. "Setec Astronomy" was a project name in the movie Sneakers which ended up being an anagram for "Too Many Secrets".

Stewart, does he have any references - someone he has supplied it to, in Aus preferably. I'd be very interested.

interesting but some of the numbers don't add up single phase 300V 30amps is 9kW
couldn't find any CE UL OR EMC testing results on their website so might be expensive to imported, They've sent me an email see if they have any testing results.

The thing that worries me is: support once you have it. The reliability of Chademo charges in general is a bit worrying.

Sorry, not a lot more info at this stage. When I get some I will post it. Cant be any worse than the first run of DBT units in Europe.

I like the branding on the unit: "GREAT CHARGER". Not that I can afford either but for a few thousand more a Veefil sounds like a more reliable and better supported choice.

True VeeFil is a known quantity, this one is probably from the 'peoples car charger factory number 3'...

I just saw this on the 'Australian Electric Car Conversion Group (EV)' Fbook page....I have no idea of price etc and am not affiliated with Milbay in any way. Not quite portable though. Available for order. Plug in EV wall charger. Charge current 40A 20kW Contact Milbay Australia for more information www.milbay.com.au#EV From Milbay via AECCG Fb page.... Our charge stations are level 3 DC Fast chargers not level 2 home charger. The charge stations are suitable for both the Nissan leaf and Mitsubishi "i" models. The small wall mount charger is capable of 20kWh charge so 80% charge on a leaf (24kWh battery system) is about and hour. There is also the larger free standing 40kW model. The systems have pretty much every kind of electrical protection including lightning strike. Milbay are offering an introductory price for the first 10 installs. The final price for the introductory installs is yet to be published and will vary from client to client depending on what electrical work needs to be included to complete the installation, 3 phase is required for the DC Fast chargers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Neale Gray Milbay Australia www.milbay.com.auMobile: 0450418901

They don't have a tick from CHAdeMO association it's very much own risk.
Dear Gabriel-san,
Thank you for your inquiry to CHAdeMO.
Your understanding is right. Setec Power is a regular member, but has not yet acquired the certification. You can confirm a list of certification models in PDF linked to the battery charger introduction page of our website.

Update: Advised they have chademo cert now. They are also making the new style chademo single button connector, I used one recently at Ploermel on a upgraded DBT, much easier than the handle and button. Pricing is now $2000US for 10kw portable and $3500US for 20kw fixed. The 20kw has connectivity, rfid reader, billing etc. I'm looking at a portable for myself, 3 phase that I can call into a Showgrounds where they have 3phase sockets and top up. I'm not selling them, just updating on what I know. In reality what would people pay up to to get a full charge in an hour, in a place where there was nothing else? $5? $10? $20? Rounding up, a cost of 50c/kWh with metering is what it would cost a business just in power supply, excluding initial setup and purchase. Maybe independent service stations with no ties to the big 4 would be interested, bill for coffee and food.. 10kw 20kw with rfid

they still aren't on the list www.chademo.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/pdf/Certified_charger (March 2016) but it could be out of date. I don't know all the photoshoped pictures they sent me still don't think I could trust them to deliver. If they mange to send you an certificates like CE UL or EMC or even a video of it charging, I would love to see them. good luck

Once again, I'm not selling them, advocating them or supporting them. I have looked at many chademo options, EMWs in the states, open source chademo, etc. it is purely an interest to me as the leaf and other vehicles are pretty much useless for long distance travel without rapid charging. I see on the list that DBT have only one 50kw charger certified. I have seen three different DBT chademo chargers in Europe with differing power levels, 22kw, 43kw and 50kw. Maybe they need to update the list. I am equally cautious, the idea of frying a $6000 Li ion battery pack because some tech got the protocol wrong in translation scares me. I am however keeping an open mind..

Alibaba price missing a zero Should be usd 20000 Given Jack's selling them for US $23,000 your probably right. But note that all the Alibaba prices show as US $2000, even the smaller one we were discussing (Though it shows as 15KW not 10KW). This just illustrates the issues that makes me not want to buy one. If you can't even have confidence in what it costs, or the power rating, how can you have confidence in any of it?

As above, they start at $2000US for the 10kW, $3500US for the 20kW and upwards from there. The 20Kw units have been used a bit in the US. evrus.net/As I mentioned I got one because my LEAF as per all other OzLeaf's has a 3kw charger. Given that it will take a long time to get a DCFC rollout across Qld I needed an option. There are a lot of 3 phase 16 & 32 amp outlets in showgrounds etc. that are usable. In fact I have written to many to look at charging and costs options. As they get approved by show committees I will post them to plugshare. In reality it charges at ~9kW not 10kW. That is still three times better than J1772 and gives me around 60KM/hr charge. It will get me by when travelling. As for its reliability and longevity, I will keep you posted. Yes I am aware of Chinese goods over many years. PS Worth having a good electrician fully test the unit for earth leakage, wiring of the three phase etc and tag it prior to use. Either workmanship or a TNT trip, leaves screws and connectors loose.

Who was your contact person/email address. How much was shipping? How about warranty and after-sale service (is it just FOB?, so no support at all). Is it the Setec one from China which we discussed above? Pictures, or video please. Did it come with the three phase plug. I was worried that these 10KW chargers may just rectify the input without doing any PFC for harmonic distortion (basically putting noise onto the supply). Have you looked at this, or noticed any problems. You really have broken some ground here. Well done. I'm so excited! I want one too. Mark

I will take some photos when I next plug in. Only use it on long trips. It does take up the room of a small suitcase and my wife prefers the boot empty for groceries, so I leave it out unless we are travelling. I have to say the unit is well made and internally very neat, I agree that only time will tell as to its longevity given Chinese origins, but it fills a void for me until we do have an effective south east Queensland DCFC network. Warranty is listed as 2 years, but that is as good as its first breakdown as it is with any product you buy.

Also, do you have an email address for your contact.
cheers,

Perhaps they appeal to Marks that own red Leafs? Anyway, love to hear about how you're finding it, charging times, durability, etc. Also, how did you exactly go about buying it, and what was the importing and shipping process like? Mark

I'm tempted to splash out too. As a rough figure, $1k for a J1772 ChargePoint on my garage wall is easy to justify that bit more for convenience, and use of fellow EV owners. The wiring in isn't rocket science. Keep us posted will you, or an update pls?.

Sadly been flat out with swine flu (3weeks). Will get some pics etc up soon along with all details. Have an issue with random breaker tripping on the unit which I'm working with the manufacturing guys to nut out. I think its variations on the MEN(multiple earthed neutral) system in Oz causing earth leakage tripping. Mine is configured for three phase, although they can be set for 240 volt single phase 45 amp. The outlets in showgrounds etc are generally exposed and run over distance from the distribution point. Doesn't take much to induce an adequate trip current. The units are solid and very neatly made. Will get back to you guys soon.
