Learned that leaf battery can be used to power home in case of power outage when you are on the grid. Does anyone have the info about this?

Hi - I thought I had signed up for this with AGL special deal, but now learn that it is not available in Australia yet. Requires special bi-directional charger. I heard a Nissan report that they expect it to be available here before year end.
You can do vehicle to home - i.e run your home from the car - up to 7Kw load, or vehicle to grid - supply power back to the grid like solar panels, when your supplier wants the extra power.
It is already done in Japan and England.

Hi, one of the many reasons why I purchased a LEAF is down to it's bi-directional charging capability. However there is a catch. The RRP for a charger itself is typically $10k + GST + installation cost. At the moment, I only know of two manufacturers who will have models for sale in Aus in late 2021. Not sure whether we are allowed to post specific brands, manufacturers and details on this forum? So until I'm informed otherwise, I'll not post.

Hi LEAF E C Dragon, I'm a mod and one of the long timers still here. It's okay to post about other carmakers and models as long as it's relevant to the conversation. Thanks for checking!
