Update 14/5/2020: I have worked my way through Sydney's Nissan dealers attempting to get my battery replaced under warranty. Speaking with the service manager at Napean where other users here have had their batteries replaced in the past, he was quite frustrated (me too after driving there specifically!) to tell me that Nissan Australia now only have one "heavy" dealer per state capable of even diagnosing battery issues, let alone replacing them. He couldn't even dump the data from my LEAF that should qualify for a warranty battery replacement to send to the one dealer that can do it any more.
Feel free to add anything in the comments and I'll edit this top post to keep an updated list for people to refer to. The "heavy" dealers capable of doing anything useful with LEAFs are now:
NSW
Suttons City Nissan - contact Karl - www.suttonscitynissan.com.au/
ACT None, you have to use Suttons City Nissan in Sydney

Typo with Kloster Nissan.
I had Rockdale Nissan look at my LEAF's air conditioning two years ago and they said they weren't LEAF certified but can work on some areas of the car so you might want to be careful they're not misleading you.
I think there's a service bulletin on the mynissanleaf forum you can show them to check if they can completely do it. Not on my computer so I can't go looking for it.

I thought it would make sense to gather a thread noting where we have actually been able to get our cars serviced (or TCUs replaced), on what date (as the Leaf techs seem to leave with some frequency), and anything where we have been told more than what Nissan's official information is showing. We had the TCU replaced at SJN on 2 Feb, so the Leaf tech was still there then. I realise many people think servicing these cars is almost a waste of time, but at least from a warranty perspective I intend to do mine. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says "a manufacturer's warranty is a promise to the consumer that the vehicle will be free from defects for a certain period of time". While a manufacturer can have certain requirements in its warranty terms – such as ensuring any servicing is carried out by qualified staff, according to the manufacturer's specification, and that appropriate quality parts are used where required – it can't require you to service your vehicle through an authorised dealer to keep your warranty intact.
So the grey area would be whether a mechanic not specifically trained in the Leaf is competent to service it. But if Nissan do not provide reasonable access to accredited Leaf techs, it would severely weaken their position if you had your Leaf serviced at a reputable certified mechanic and Nissan tried to claim warranty is now voided.

I was pretty happy with the work done by Rockdale Nissan. 40k service done, they deducted the cost of a cabin filter they didn't have in stock and they said I didn't need. Talked through tyre replacement options before settling on Ecopia EP100s. TCU replaced. Car fully charged after service as requested.

I received an email last week from Suttons Homebush, who bought out the SJN dealership. The email said "You will continue to receive our highest level of service for all your motoring needs". No ifs or buts there, no fine print, no caveats, no conditions. So I dropped them a note via their email web form asking if that meant they will continue to service the Leaf.
Deafening silence was the reply.
Next week if I get the time, I'll phone them. If I don't get a positive response, I'll be pointing out that "service for all your motoring needs" is a written commitment, and which part of the Australian Consumer Law do they not understand?

I bought my car, new, from SJN, but over the years have been using Rockdale more and more for service. My last service at Rockdale was 26 June. I was talking to the mechanic and he told me he had been working at SJN as the Leaf guy, before he went to Rockdale. Did you have any trouble getting home from Rockdale Alison?

Did you have any trouble getting home from Rockdale Alison? In the end no - I made it home from there with cautious driving, no heat (brrr!), avoiding the F5 and two bars remaining. However this only worked because my parents live reasonably close to Rockdale and I could impose on them to help. On the plus side Dad is now blown away by the Leaf and wants an EV more than the Merc the have only just taken delivery of. However I can't in good faith recommend Nissan based on their overall patchy support in Australia, even if he currently appears to have a good Leaf technician just up the road. How long will that last?

So to start, of the 8 allegedly Leaf-certified dealers shown whenever I search for a NSW address: Burwood Steve Jarvin - 22/6/2017 - after lots of unanswered emails and their contact form, service manager confirmed their Leaf technician was one of several staff to "jump ship" after their dealership was sold. It is to be relocated and may gain another tech later. Suttons Homebush have bought them but haven't yet confirmed they will support the Leaf in the future. Chatswood - Yes ( duncan ) Hamilton Kloster - Yes ( Phoebe ) Liverpool - 7/3/2017 - they no longer have a Leaf technician. However they are still shown as having one as at 26/6/2017 Rockdale - 5/7/2017 - Yes ( alison , markrmarkr ). They appear to now have the well-regarded technician who was previously at Burwood. Parramatta - ? Penrith - 23/3/2017 - never returned my calls or emails (despite this being where the car's previous owner had it serviced) Sydney City - Steve Jarvin referred me to them - ? About 6 weeks ago we rang Suttons Homebush and asked if they service the Leaf. The person on the phone said they'd need to check and would call us back. A few days later, they called back and said yes they could perform a logbook service on it, but they would not be able to fix anything with the battery and electronics if they found a fault. About 2 weeks ago we booked the Leaf in for service and everything seemed fine. Well they called last week to inform us they have worked out that they actually don't service the Leaf at all. Wow, pretty clueless all round. So SJN Burwood is gone and off the list, Suttons Homebush is off the list, so we will next try Sydney City (Alexandria). We'll advise if any joy there, otherwise Rockdale would be the next option but far less convenient. The joys of being a pioneer. Meanwhile, Tesla is planning to open its third facility in Sydney in Alexandria (118-124 Bourke Rd) next year ahead of Model 3 arrival.

Actually I just checked the Nissan find-a-dealer site and it looks like they've updated it - there are now only 6 certified Leaf dealers in the Sydney metro area: - Artarmon (Chatswood Nissan)
- Alexandria (Sydney City Nissan)
- Rockdale
- Parramatta
- Liverpool
- Penrith

I have asked the ACCC about this issue. Under Australian law the *retailer* is legally responsible to continue to provide service. It is not for the buyer to be left to find another suitable dealer. By the way North Shore Nissan have a LEAF certified mechanic who has serviced my LEAF recently (replacement battery under warranty).

We had our Leaf serviced today at Sydney City Nissan. It's our 3rd anniversary, nearly 30,000k, but the 2 yr / 40,000k service was done (splitting the difference??)
SCN seemed pretty good. The tech there asked me how I like it (love it!) and how many bars I had lost. He also mentioned he and one other are going to Melbourne next month to get training on the Zoe (SCN also deal with Renault). He reckoned only 2 others from Melbourne are also going, and so there will only be 2 dealers in the country certified to sell the Zoe when it arrives next year. Although my understanding is that Renault only want to sell it to fleets and not to private buyers?! Would they refuse to sell you one if you asked?
When I picked the Leaf up later that day, the rep said he'd never been in a Leaf before and so the tech took him for a spin around the block, and he loved it too. Said it was strange being in a car so quiet and smooth yet so zippy.
I took a loaner car for the day, some huge and fairly new Renault SUV thing, and it reminded me why I hate ICE so much. Particularly being an auto, it felt so sluggish off the line. A really noticeable delay between pressing on the pedal and moving. Even our manual ICE feels better. Getting back in the Leaf was so pleasant in comparison!

As I'm writing this my LEAF is at Rockdale Nissan getting its battery tested in the hope that I'll get an out of warranty replacement (by about 2,300km) or at least some sort of concession. It hasn't been the smoothest experience so far: I had to call a few different dealers and got different responses to whether they can service my car and when they're available. After some asking around the rep at Rockdale Nissan told me they can, but sounded hesitant about it.
I dropped it off yesterday and was told they'll need it for two days for a full discharge/recharge and other tests. Having some trust issues with them, I monitored the charge level remotely and could see they ran it flat this morning and left it plugged in but not charging for an hour. So I thought I'd call them up and mention that you have to press a button on the dash to start charging. The service rep gave me a snarky, "Yeah the mechanic knows that". About five minutes after I got off the phone the car starts charging.
I'm not expecting anything to come out of this except for a few hundred dollars spent knowing they won't do anything outside of warranty, but at least I'll have the peace of mind knowing I tried.

I got a call from Rockdale Nissan this morning. Nissan Australia has agreed to replace my battery under warranty. Best news ever! It'll take a month for the new pack to arrive from overseas. I'll write about the experience when it happens. I might even leave a digital camera in the car for the mechanic to snap a few pics.

Great news about Rockdale and a new battery! With any luck I'll loose two more bars in 3 years and get mine done as well.
I've finally incorporated your updates in the top post everyone, sorry for the lag. If an admin wants to do this rather than wait for me please feel free.

Unlike you I've got my car while waiting so I'm in no hurry. Besides, I might get to weather part of summer and get more life out of the replacement pack.
How's your new pack holding up?

New pack is going well. It has dropped 10km since new, but I have done almost 15,000km.

Since they have to come from Japan anyway, did either of you have a conversation with the dealer about paying more for the 30kW battery and associated other bits that would need changing? I know the official line is that it isn't possible, but Nissan are now running the 40kW in basically the same chassis so that's just the sales people talking.

There's some discussion on the mynissanleaf.com forums about interchangeability of packs and it's not available yet and possibly never will through Nissan. Some Russian owners have tried swapping a 24kWh pack with a 30kWh and the car which originally had the 30kWh pack could handle the 24kWh but not the other way around. The older car could barely run with the 30kWh battery. Having trouble finding the thread otherwise I'd post it here.

Our Leaf has been on 9 bars for well over a year and just waiting for the inevitable drop to 8 bars. However, we are already 6 months post warranty expiration, the odds of getting a warranty replacement presumably reduce by the day.
