Hey All, My daughter had an unfortunate run-in with a bus and lost. Insurance is fine but the smash repair place can't take it until July and then want to keep it ten days. Anyone here that can recommend a good repair place in Sydney that knows the LEAF and will hopefully be able to get us in sooner? Thanks! Jim

That didn't seem to matter so long as they don't put the whole thing in a hot oven and ruin the battery, any decent repairer should be able to do it.

As long as they company has some staff with High Voltage training you should be fine. That was certainly the case the smash repair group that did my car. They had a tech who had been trained up so he could deal with Hybrids etc.

Sorry to see it happen Jim! Hope your daughter wasn't traumatized by it. The smash repairer I went to said they had training to handle hybrids but I wouldn't recommend them because they did a so-so job. It still doesn't stop all these amazing supercars pass through their yard. I have no idea how they attract that kind of business.
Let us know how you go!

Great advice about hot ovens and having EV/Hybrid experience! I'll be sure to mention it and hopefully all will go well!

Thanks Feng, She was fine, apparently it was all somewhat surreal. She was disappointed in herself but not traumatised by it. I'll let you know how I go! Sorry to see it happen Jim! Anyone here that can recommend a good repair place in Sydney that knows the LEAF and will hopefully be able to get us in sooner? This looks similar to our Leaf getting banged up about 3 months ago, it needed a new front bumper and some panel work. Our insurer took it to one of their default repairers, who upon seeking the replacement parts, were apparently told by Nissan that they were not accredited to repair the Leaf so they would not be supplied the parts. So our car was flat-bedded to one which allegedly was. That was Chullora Auto Body repairs, 15 Wenthworth St Greenacre. They did a good job - looked as good as new - but the funny thing was that for an accredited Leaf repairer they said it was the first Leaf they'd ever seen You can read all about it in my thread on the topic linked above!

Thanks for the info! Just got turned away by the second smash repairer, mainly for the reasons discussed above. Another big reason is he said there is structural damage and it needs to be seen by someone deep in bed with Nissan. I'll check out Chullora, might be our only option! Finally, I mentioned not baking the LEAF and the guy said the bake oven is only 40° so really not more than a normal sunny day. So I don't know what to think about that. Our LEAF needs a complete re-spray aparrently. I was looking at the finish last week, and had little white/grey dots the size of pin-heads all around it. It transpires that some hap-less piece of work had some kind of caustic solution leaking/wafting in their wake... which got to lash onto our Shiny black LEAF. Net result is the weather can get to the under-coat layer, and cause rapid damage to it. The painter was worried that if they have the car, it would need charging to move it around. It would hold charge for 2 1/2 years, so I said it doesn't need to leave their property, and that the telemetry would keep me posted... along with my GPS. Anyway, it's going to cost me $850 excess on a complete re-spray at end of next month. I have no concerns about the heated environment required to cure the paint. Beware of vehicles on the freeway with fine spray following them. B'stards!.
