good on them for putting up money for quick charging, Nissan certainly haven't shown any such financial commitment.
I think I've mentioned before though, I just can't see a quick charge being a practical part of my EV use. I'm not going to stop for an hour every 2 to recharge....I'd always take the FFB instead.

But with Tesla's greater range, it would be less of a problem.
Three hours driving after a 20 minute ' Fast Charge ' stop ( for a coffee ? ) should not be a problem to most people.

yeah totally agree.....20min in 3 hours is fine, in fact it would be a good break.
*edit* that's 20min, not 2!

Yep, Tesla should have a good future, even though they are very expensive! But not for me, my LEAF does everything I need

I know you go FAST, Duncan, but I thought 2 mins for a coffee and a possible call of nature was pushing it, even for you Better Place's 5 minute battery change would have suited you well, but was not applicable to the LEAF. I agree with Phoebe, the LEAF does all that we need, notwithstanding this may not be overly ambitious. Elon Musk's business plan is interesting - Start with high end, low-production-numbers vehicles ( Roadster and Model S ), then move to a cheaper mid-range model in bigger production numbers, and finally put out a low end end, cheap mass- production vehicle. He also welcomes competition that puts more EVs on the road. But I don't expect to see a string of Fast Charge points accross the Nullarbor anytime soon

indeed....I had trouble getting my FFB skyline to Alice Springs a few years ago because it could only get about 200klm (at 200klm/h) before needing another tank of 98 octane fuel. I understand the leaf top speed is only 150klm/h but I hate to know what range you would get at that speed!

A few years before speed cameras, too ? A graphic demonstration of the exponential effects of wind resistance / drag. But it does not discriminate abtween FFB and EVs

ahh no speed limits in the NT back then, although I think they may have changed now sadly.

They had just introduced a speed limit in NT when I was there in 2006, but the locals still ignored it. Yep, Duncan, your chart doesn't show the range you would get at 150 kph in the LEAF, I wonder why ;D Oh, and congrats Duncan, on joining our exclusive little club of full members of the Forum
