Hey guys, You have probably seen this new low price reported in the media this week. See link below. www.carsguide.com.au/news-and-reviews/car-news/nissan_leaf_slashed_to_39990_drive_awayThis is about $15,000 less than we paid. Also remember it is the 2012 model too. It may be discounted more when the 2013 model is released in OZ. Anyway I'm a bit philosophical about the price cut. While I think the original price on OZ was too high, we see these drops in all new technology. Interested to hear what the rest of the group thinks. Still love my LEAF though. Richard

Always going to be the case. In my world this happens constantly. There was a high end piece of software that cost $250,000 four years ago and now costs $32,000 if you want the specialist hardware, or it's free if you don't! There are people who will be paying off their investment for years and years.
I like to see it as paving the way for the future. Without early adopters like us, who get joy from being at the forefront, many of these endeavours would fail.
I for one am glad to see the price come down and would love to see tons of new drivers out there.
We'll always be the first, and that counts for something!

Back in 1985 I paid $7,500 for an IBM PC that did absolutely nothing - no graphics, no hard drive, nothing, but it got me started and I've grown with the concept. AND OTHERS FOLLOWED ;D If the price of the LEAF is coming down now, then, hopefully, others will follow us. Maybe, one day I may even be able to get my LEAF serviced in Maitland

Yes, would be great to see people buying a LEAF now instead of a Prius - and to see more LEAFs on the road,!

Well I paid at the second price (mid 40s) which was much better, and I'm glad to see the price still going down. We need heaps more of these on the road....I want to wave at another one as I drive past one day

I'm so happy about an under $40k price tag. For sure any private buyer considering a Prius for 'environmental friendly reason' the LEAF is now a real alternative with this price point.
Very excited. Feel like making our second car a LEAF too!

Ditto to all I bought my first 'computer' for $4500, can do 100 times more on my smartphone now. I think we all were aware that we were paying at least 10K more for the privilege of being 'first' when the price was in the mid 50's Still no regrets and like Duncan, I look forward to waving to fellow leafers and perhaps a few more fast charge stations around major cities (Sydney for me) in time to come for the odd time when we are stuck

I just left a comment on the original article stating that I'm an early adopter and in full support of the price drop. They were trying to paint us as unsuspecting victims and I wanted to set the record straight.

It would be helpful if people could see your comment when they read the article, Jim. I can't find it anywhere. Am I looking in the wrong place or is it not available to people reading the original article

Has to go through the moderator before it goes online. They might not even check for comments so may never appear! ;-)
