Hi, I read in the paper that Hyundai is bringing a new hybrid to Oz next year, which is also available as a plug-in hybrid and EV, but they haven't yet decided whether to bring these more interesting options to the country - it will depend on the business case. My suggestion to anyone interested would be to contact Hyundai, as some consumer interest might affect their decision. There is a real lack of EV options in the sub-80K price range. There doesn't seem to be much info on the car as yet, but I found this: link

I think the blue Ionic was in Adelaide recently for the Green Drive Day. I didn't see any promotions for this until the actual day but managed to pop in and get test drive of a Tesla Model S and an all electric scooter. Both great. There was just about every type and model BEV on display from e-bikes, BMW, Imiev, Tesla. All listed here - www.aevasa.kestar.com.au/GreenDriveDay_2018.htmWas great and not very crowded as I think there was a mix up with the advertising.

A question to the group.... Hyundai have announced that all three variants will be available come October. I'm impressed that all three are coming at once. The pure BEV version has a claimed range of 280 km, but only a 28 kw battery. Given that the Leaf has a 24 kw battery, and a CLAIMED range of 170 km, how can a slightly larger battery give that sort of range?
BTW, my husband saw an Ioniq on the Sunshine Coast the other day, but didn't get a good enough look to figure out which variant it was.

Efficiency, Weight and aerodynamics.
The Ioniq was Bjorn Nyland's favourite non Tesla EV due to its efficiency. Unfortunately batt on Ioniqs are not liquid cooled.
I wouldn't buy one personally due to the foot operated park brake, like in 2004 Toyota Prius

Yes, I think the Ioniq still holds the title as the world’s most efficient BEV (Wh/km). Data from Model 3 drivers in USA suggest it is not far behind.
