Just reading some threads on the Tesla forums and saw people discussing that Tesla has talked about producing a Chademo adapter so the Tesla cars can use the DC fast chargers while waiting for the Superchargers. We've had a good run so far with the fast chargers all to ourselves as Leaf owners so I am wondering what people think about sharing them with a car that will take a fair bit longer than a Leaf.
The nature of the discussion was a few guys who have bought Teslas without off street parking so it's going to be tricky for them to run cables over the footpath so one guy suggested driving the few K's each day to the DC charger and "fuelling up" for free (Melbourne based guy).
Side note is real estate that expensive down here that people can buy a $110,000 car and not have a garage?!?

The CHADEMO adaptor is available on the japanese market simply because of the amount of chargers installed. Purchasing the Model S without the ability to charge at home is crazy. If they buy and 85kw that's over 3 hours to fully charge in the CHADEMO at swinburne. Lucky it's max 1hr parking space. I'd be calling campus security to issue a fine of they over stayed their welcome. And abusing free is not good for anyone. Superchargers are to enable long distance travel. It's generally looked down on by the U.S. Model S owners if you only want to charge public, for free.

the CHAdeMO adapter i would say would be available world wide soon.
I don't think you should worry about them overusing or stealing them. it actually is more likely to help given that a CHAdeMO unit is the fastest charger you can get of the model s without a supercharger. and tesla won't let you purchase a supercharger so it hopefully means that some tesla drivers will invest in some more chademo units. or at least increase the customer base making them financially viable.

Agree with both of you.
What I don't like is that they will be able to use CHAdeMO, but we won't be able to use their Superchargers (when they come).
