Chalk up another unhappy Steve Jarvin customer: . I don't think I'll ever take my car there for any serious work after hearing so many horror stories!

I didn't find Mildren any better, but Kloster Nissan in Newcastle have been excellent so far.

That's terrible. Artarmon also seem to be pretty good but I've never brought them a big problem.

Would the owner have been better off by not saying anything about a lightning strike and hoping they would diagnose it as component failure instead? Is it immoral to be economical with the truth?

Would the owner have been better off by not saying anything about a lightning strike and hoping they would diagnose it as component failure instead? Is it immoral to be economical with the truth? Actually, he doesn't have a proof that the damage was caused by lightning. He guessed it was and Nissan took his words. Then they claimed that was caused by lightning (read the reply from Nissan Australia). It is not immoral to just saying the car is not charging. On his Facebook post, he said the dealer was claiming that was an act of God. If I were him, I would be very worry. If it is considered as an act of God, his insurance may not cover this event. If I were him, I will talk to Nissan to make sure they won't just pick up his words and claim it is an act of God. The storm and the damage can be just a coincident. I hope he will get everything covered under warranty or insurance. Now, I think I made a right decision to install a surge protector on the circuit board when my house was built.

I don't know if this will help but here is a link showing that a leaf should be able to stand an electrical storm but does not show a direct surge though the power /charger cable www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxL4LVgdP7E

Now, I think I made a right decision to install a surge protector on the circuit board when my house was built. Appreciate that protection is always about where hundreds of thousands of joules dissipate. Even your circuit board protector does not claim to absorb that energy. Some want magic solutions from a box. Clipsal does protection because and if it connects low impedance (ie 'less than 3 meters') to single point earth ground. Earth absorbs hundreds of thousand of joules. When upgraded to both meet and exceed code requirements. And only if connected low impedance low impedance (as short as possible, no sharp bends, no splices, etc) to a Clipsal, ABB, Novaris, etc. Protectors are dumb simple devices. 'Art' of protection is earth ground. Do not get focused on the box. Spend most time 'viewing' an item that does the protection and that gets ignored because it is not seen - single point eaerth ground.

Here is my charging issue.
Used the fast charger at UWA today. Machine said it was charged to 80% but when I got in it there were four bars not lit up. This morning when I drove off there was also four bars not lit despite having the timer set to 80%.
Yesterday I checked out a level 2 charger at the RAC at Perth Airport. Just a small hit to confirm that the RFID tag I had been given worked there. When driving away I noticed a warning light. The amber car with an explanation mark (!)through it. Turning the car off and on cured that (while stationary).
Magic Nissan will have to put it on the computer to see what the computer says. I will be trying a 100% charge soon to see if that will solve the problem.
Any thoughts.....

The rac dtec airport elektrobay single bollard produces a check engine light (cel) on the volt intermittently Note that max amps seems to be around 20 amps I3 on max trips circuit breaker.
Similarly the Subiaco bollard with volt. This bollard produces a guaranteed cel on volt
That is the beauty of the imiev no fancy computer stuff or it is hidden from user.

100% charge seems to have worked. Got all 12 bars when charged, and tried an 80% last night and got what I usually get.
Must try the RAC bollard to see if I can repeat the problem.
