Living in our other home in Central Brittany, France. I mentioned in here that I was getting a Renault Zoe in France as our second car. Much emailing and calls to pre arrange this. We knew that the only way was to rent the battery as it is what Renault do. Nissan are also offering that with the Leaf here now. Anyway, two days of signing paperwork, that is the French way. All sorted to pick up the car on Tuesday. Late Friday night a phone call to say that they cant sell me a car as they wont lease the battery as I am not a French or EU national. Not impressed. Then that night found a 1 year old Leaf nearby on a private sale. No Battery rental, own the car. So a quick Sunday visit and we bought it. Very similar including the same colour, some things added like Speed limiter as well as Cruise control, rear under bumper red fog light and front driving lights in the fog area that are always on. Best thing is that there are FREE Chademo chargers everywhere. We are in a rural area but have 4 rapid chargers within 20km of home, already used one after a long trip that I wasn't sure of making it. Very easy to use and they have an english option. Interesting that the guess o meter seems to be different. At home after a 100% change we show 160-180km. That is only realised at 50-60km/h and no climate. Here after 100% it shows 130km. After driving at around 70km/h its up to 145. Apparently there was a software upgrade late last year that changed the GOM. Not sure if I like it being a pessimist or optimist. So now two Leaf's, home and away. Added some pics for interest..

Chademo looks like a nissan sponsored Job. And the eu is trying to ban chademo. Ha. Good luck with that.
Wish that nissan would start rolling them out in aus. But I guess that the aus govt haven't provided incentives.
What incentives does France have?
Is the leaf gen 2?

Yes gen 2, in upper Normandy there is €6300 from federal and €5000 from local, hence a new Leaf there is €11300..$17,500AUD www.nissan.fr/FR/fr/vehicle/electric-vehicles/vehicule-electrique-haute-normandie.htmlSo huge incentives to buy electrique. The CHAMEDO units are sponsored by Govt, Nissan and local. They are three way AC/DC, Mennekes, Combo DC and CHAMEDO rapid chargers. They are free to use as well but need an RFID card, Nissan supply the card. I have seen the NISSAN E-NV200 van done up as a camper here, a great concept, tour around, sleep in it and recharge quick for free. Most of the large supermarket chains have them too like E Leclerc, InterMarche etc. Lots of councils. Renault dealers have 1 hour type 3 AC chargers for their EV's. France on chargemap shows around 3100 points in an area the size of Qld, It is not well updated as the 7 CHADEMO units in my department of Morbihan have been in a couple of months and are now showing yet. So incentives are plenty. The Mairie said that France has no oil of its own and has to import all oil and gas, hence its a lot cheaper for the country overall to go electrique. The cost per kW/h for home recharge is 5 centime or 7.5 cents aussie. But when you have charge points everywhere this is not often used. Electricity is 65% Nuclear, the rest mostly wind and water. A lot of the La Poste vans are Renault EV, given the small area of coverage this would be cheap. Cheers Attachments:

how are you coping with the foot park brake? is yours the top of the line techna model? do you like the heavier power steering. does the car lock the J1772 charge coupler when charging, hence no need to use padlock. supposedly there is no more hump in the back as most of the electronics have been moved to the front "engine" area. is 16/32 Amp manually selectable or does the car negotiate with the wall box / EVSE.

I think a group of leafs should be called either an Autumn or a Fall. No, you'd have to reserve that for red leafs.

We are still waiting for our first one in Perth what is holding it up planning approval or sparkies ? or enough money to pay the sparkies ? Probably money to buy the charger! Guessing no one is interested in picking up the bill.

As I understand it, a generous, anonymous benefactor has donated the charger and the University of W.A. will provide the free location.
The stumbling block has been the major cost the State owned monopoly electricity utility wants to charge for the local transformer up-grade and attendant cables.

Probably money to buy the charger! Guessing no one is interested in picking up the bill. come on jim i already new that charger was purchased and sitting in storage.... I wouldn't think that a single charger would require all the extra work maybe 3-4 yes but they must be already pretty close to capacity to require it, or they are just fleeing you or making you pay for an upgrade they would of had to do come summer anyway.

Apparently there was a software upgrade late last year that changed the GOM. Very interesting report from a non-fossil society... Just heard yesterday that overall emissions in France are half of that in Germany, even though Germany has done lots of solar and wind. I wonder if we will ever get software upgrades here. I had similar problems with my earlier phone, it was full of bugs and the Australian version was never upgraded, even though Asia had several new versions. As the market is too small, they may not be keen to spend money testing new versions of code...

We are not 'falling', we are thriving! I would think 'sprig' would be more suitable to show we are just beginning
