Went to a picnic at Clontarf on the weekend and a parking ranger rocked up in a LEAF. Probably doesn't give the rest of us a good look! I don't know how common these things are but this LEAF had cameras mounted on a roof rack which scans plates with terrible (for us) efficiency. It was a fairly big car park at the reserve and he was done in about five minutes. I mentioned to the ranger while he was waiting for traffic that I owned one and they're great cars. His response was they're not that good for him because he has to charge it twice a day!

The area has some pretty steep hills which might impact range along with the stop-start driving. I glanced at the dash and it's done around 25k but I didn't see how many capacity bars it has.

twice a day is a lot of kms ! True true. He's done at least 200-ish km to charge twice a day. Leaf is far more efficient in lower speed too. Either that, or he's charging 'just in case' although he has enough batt. Surely he's slow charging? Which means during his work hours, it's a negligible top up.

He should be pushing for a longer lunch break then.

It's not directly EV spotting but I'm currently in Melbourne for work and it's fun to open up Plugshare and spot a few familiar names in the nearby activity list. I'm looking at you, Tjgeel, Jacky and Leafboi. There's a lot more check in activity here than in Sydney. You could go for days with no activity there.

2nd Tesla NSW meetup in Bowral, 37 showed up! Didn't get to comment at the time: That's heaps! Tesla must be happy with the free publicity. Don't say we didn't try Nissan!

In Melbourne CBD, you may see a few LEAFs and Teslas in a day. There is at least one Tesla Model S (sometimes 2 or even 3) & one Nissan LEAF (my car) parked in 300 Flinder St car park almost everyday. The Swinburne quick charger is one of our favourites but it is not very reliable.

I saw a red leaf yesterday and a silver one earlier in the seek. I see a red Tesla in Melbourne's east on my way to work a couple of times a month.

I have been in Nannup (WA) for a few weeks and walk past the RAC fast charger here several times each day.
So far I have seen one EV and that was a white Tesla S85 (deep envy ensured:-). I hung around for a few minutes to "have a chat" but the owner didn't surface.

Saw a red Tesla Model S on the M4 (Westbound) around 5pm today. Pulled alongside and said hello through the open windows and said how nice it was to see another electric car, they said yes & we went our separate ways. PS - the LEAF got in front of him

For the first time ever I had another Leaf driving directly behind me as I was going to work yesterday, along Ryde Rd in Hunters Hill. It was a white Leaf, no markings on it so not a Council or Fleet vehicle.
When I slipped into the right turn bay I had a quick glace as it went past me but I couldn't see who was driving it, they went past too fast. Was it you duncan? It's on the way to your house...

I can answer for duncan since he hasn't been around for a few days: Duncan owns a black (and immaculate the last two times I saw it) LEAF so it wasn't his.

Hi. Yes, that white LEAF on Ryde Rd was me. Yours is blue? A rare occurrence of a convoy!

Hi, yesterday I had my very first spotting of a Leaf "in the wild" i.e. driving on a road. I went to Brisbane for the day (by train) to catch up with a friend visiting from Melbourne. We were walking through Fortitude Valley, and she was asking me about my Leaf. At the very moment of that EV conversation, a blue Leaf went by. I'm presuming that it had been to the BMW fast-charger nearby. I'd love to know who it was. I don't think I know any SEQ blue Leaf drivers.

I am in Sydney and my LEAF is in Urunga but back in SEQ in week or so.

Yesterday in the Melbourne CBD was pleased to see a Black Leaf on Russel street. Then 5 minutes later saw a silver one turn into the same street.

white Tesla S Q1000 at Robina Feb 4th Interesting... 181 Wh/km, compared to my long-run efficiency of 142 Wh/km. Which means the Tesla, a car much much bigger and heavier than a Leaf, only uses 27% more power. In the ICE world, the increase in fuel consumption to a car that size would be more like 50-100%. Just goes to show how efficient electric motors are.
