True over there as most power is nuclear or wind. I'm buying a renault Zoe EV in the next few weeks as I'm going over for 6 months. Have a home in Brittany. Over there are 6 fast charge stations within 25km of home. So different to here. Just had my first main service, very underwhelmed when the service manager says he doesnt know much about these. And that after having to drive 110km to get there passing 3 other dealers who 'dont do Leaf's'. Need to do better Nissan.. Good grab on ABC 7:30 tonight on EV's and the lack of charging points. Cheers

I agree Nissan need to do better if they are going to sell the leaf in Australia, I was at a dealer who sells the leaf the other day, and they didn't know the one they are trying to sell here is now the old 2012 model, and their have been a lot of changes/improvements to the leaf since 2012.

I think it is not just Nissan who could do better - here in Adelaide there is only one level 3 fast charger available at the Mitsubishi site and I thought it would be fun to try out. Don't need it per se as we have solar panels so we charge via them during the day but I was dying to use the "other" plug and see how fast a fast charge would be. Once I got there you had to enter a pin number which I didn't have so I sent off the following request to their web inquiries page -
Is the level 3 fast charger at Mitsubishi Adelaide site available for anyone? I own a Nissan Leaf and would like to try out a fast charge. When I tried a couple of weeks ago the Charge required a pin number to enter which I didn't know. Is it possible for me to find out the pin number?
After a month ( I'd actually given up expecting a reply) I got the following:
Receipt is acknowledged of your recent correspondence. We apologise for the delay in responding to you as we had to seek assistance from the relevant department at Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) Head Office. Please be advised that after checking with the relevant department they have confirmed that unfortunately the Quick Charger at (MMAL) is for the exclusive use of Mitsubishi owners. We apologise we are unable to be of further assistance. Thank you for your enquiry.
I think it is a shame they are not more open to the only fast charger in Adelaide to be available to the whole EV community rather than just Mitsubishi cars.

Welcome to the Forum jgprice and iamisd!
Yeah, the EV community really needs to stick together and promote the overall use of EVs rather than protect their own brand.
But don't feel bad, there's only a single Level 3 charger in Sydney and while it's available to everyone for free, it's always broken down!
It's just the early days, these things will all resolve themselves. The main thing is that we each have a personal charging solution that gets us everywhere we need to go 99% of the time.

Good point Jim, I have solar on the roof as an offset. ICE drivers cant make petrol at home, I know biodiesel is possible. As such I am happy with the home solution. We have two Level 2 chargers within 10km as well on the coast. Have to say that in two different Renault dealers in France, both sales people had a comprehensive knowledge of the car that at the time had only been out 6 months. They also had enthusiasm, something that is missing here.

Yeah, here where we find ourselves absent of rebates, motivation and a general desire for change, we will end up being followers, note leaders.

It may only be a Level 2 outlet, but Magic Nissan in Melville, Perth, is more generous and makes theirs available to all EVs, ( even iMievs, eh g4qber ? )
