Just a quick post to say hi and good to see some enthusiasm about the LEAF. I have taken delivery of a LEAF last Friday as a new work vehicle (for use by anyone on site) as the runaround car. It will generally do trips between our manufacturing facility and local city, airport, post office, local suppliers etc. Everyone who drives it so far loves it!

Congratulations, I got a white one in July 2012 and still have fun driving it every day.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum!
Yeah, the LEAF is an adventure and we've all had a lot of fun since it came out.
So do you leave it at work to charge or do you take it home at night and charge there?

Its my baby! but it's a work vehicle and lives onsite. It's for all staff 2 use - we are a 24 hr operation although usage of the current site car is very low at night. Currently we are just using the supplied evse in a 15A outlet. We will be installing a 7kw charge station in the next couple of months.

Welcome to the forum Stevemars! Do you know what the build date of your car is? Just curious what the delay is for new owners now. When some of us bought ours the car was already a year old, presumably due to slow sales.
Do you know if yours has a 3.3kW or 6.6kW on board charger? If it's just a 3.3kW then a 7kW station will only be useful for futureproofing, otherwise it's overkill.

Ours is one of the 2013 complied/2012 built LEAFs. So 3.3kw (are there any of the new ones in Aus yet?) Futureproofing is indeed the idea - aided by the fact that I got the EVSE for "free" through a business partership agreement.

Welcome Steve. I am in Maitland so I had your problem when I first got my LEAF as the nearest Nissan LEAF service was Artarmon. Fortunately Jim let me charge at his place on my way there and back. Now Kloster Nissan in Newcatle service the LEAF, which solves my problem. They haven't managed to sell a LEAF yet, so I am special to them Don't think the 2013 model is available in Australia 'cos I'm sure there will be a fanfare if it is.

Someone took a LEAF for a test drive and noticed the boot was missing the hump from the 3.3kW charger. That implied it was a new model. When they enquired about it later on they were told the car had been sold as an ex-demo and when they bought theirs it was just a pre-upgraded model.

I will be hoping to encourage the local dealer, they are telling me it's $50k for the equipment and they won't be doing it until Nissan tell them to.

I was under the impression that Nissan told Kloster Nissan to do it. Dean at Nissan Head Office was aware of my problem but didn't tll me it had happened until I complained about the service I got at Artarmon. You could discuss this with Dean. He can be reached at the Nissan Customer Service Centre: 1800 LEAF EV (1800 532 338) or by email at nissan_leaf@nissan.com.au.

I will be driving around and talking it up so I hope the local dealer gets a few enquiries! Had considered I may have to try some leverage from head office and have had an email from Dean today about something else so will keep at it and see how we go....

I also remember a round depression in the boot, like for a spare. But with no tyre in it, which I thought was a bit funny. Of course this was the first Leaf I had ever seen, so some of my derails may be off. Damb, it's enough to make me question my sanity Sent from my GT-P6200 using proboards

The spare tyre should located under the car in a cage. Similar to a land rover discovery

Yep, that's indeed where it is. My wife had to use it after only a week when she lost a fight with the sidewalk!
