replacement EVSE lunchbox from Nissan costs $3410 would be good to see if Nissan rep can confirm this scary price
Mitsubishi's unit costs $1550 bag costs $55
Holden EVSE $369.25. Phoenix Holden wangara
I would prefer the Nissan/Mitsu one cos it has a lockable Yazaki charge coupler and it has a more quality feel.

haha so my guess that the iMiev one was half the price was pretty good! It apparently draws more current than the Nissan charger too with makes it a good replacement if you can be confident to get a 15A power point.
How is the holden one rated?

all three units are rated at 10A just that nissan and mitsu units have 15A plugs stuck on the ends of them. might be good to go clipper creek. via www.cloudninecars.com.au/what-we-do/charging-solutionsor direct www.clippercreek.com/watch out though, the current clipper creek models use Delphi charge couplers which don't have padlocks I'm gonna go CC just out of research CC has said that they will allow return if it trips my RCD when connected to the volt like a) evseupgrade.com b) charge-amps.com c) mitsu

Doesn't the VOLT have a tiny battery? It only goes like 50kms or something so probably a whimpy charger does the trick.

volt has a 16.5 kWh batt but only 10 kwh is usable hence the $2.50 ad www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Bv1hDjyfyovolt goes up to 87km on 10kwh 60km @ freeway speeds. generally 6km per kWh imiev does 7km per kWh freeway speeds 100kmh it is a lighter car 1100kg vs 1700kg (volt) $0.25 x 10kwh = $2.50 just one of the things that they don't tell you about. just like how the internal lights stay on in the volt, leaf and imiev unlike a golf where everything powers down. with the imiev, one can't see the speed at noon even though I've sworn not to get another VW the e-golf might be interesting. but probably the i3 first. I just need to remind myself not to get gen 1 stuff eg. the volt just ordered clipper creek 15A australian unit on the condition that if it trips RCDs with the volt I can return it. $US 763.03 arriving in 2 weeks

No don't fall for VW again! We've had two lemon VWs, it's hard to take them seriously after that!
I was eying the same CC unit, can you let us know how you go with it? The only thing I wasn't sure of was the electrical certification and if it'll be a problem with insurance.

arrived last week, trips itself. generally keeps the RCD of the location safe; but at Yanchep the bollard RCD tripped as well. allegedly the clipper creek has a 20mA RCD
Will Barrett is assembling a unit with a 30mA RCD & will test on US Chevy volts before shipping to Aus.
no issue with Brian's LEAF & imiev.

indeed & e-station's circontrol boxes are the ONLY ones for now that charge the Volt @ 15A without tripping RCDs.

Clipper Creek is not able to make a 30mA RCD unit as it is against their regulations. My hunch is that there is something wrong with my volt. I shall be getting rid of it as soon as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV comes along or the BMW i3.
Another thing with the volt is that it has reflective chrome. Have to wear sunglasses during the day for the glare the comes from within the vehicle. eg. middle console and dashboard, luckily the steering wheel tends to obscure this section.
Perhaps I should call the volt the Batmobile & only drive it at night.

I hear Nissan are doing a hybrid pathfinder? Apparently with 4 electric motors. I haven't followed that up - courtesy of a Nissan dealership north of Perth.

When was the last time anyone spoke to Dean? He didn't reply to my last two emails about Nissan's involvement with our meets.

here is the quote for ECU. " Hi Joseph
Got the price from Nissan $3125.00 incl GST
Cheers Cristina "
Jim any reply from Dean yet? would be interesting to see if Nissan bothers checking other manufacturer's pricing. also if they have a special deal with Chargepoint Australia to encourage owners to install a wall box.
Encouragement via pricing of items.

Yes, Dean got back to me. Didn't know for sure, basically said the same thing we already thought and advised one would be better off with the Origin Charger. Hi Jim, Great to hear your forum is gathering momentum. I assume you are referring to a replacement trickle charger which comes with the LEAF. Please do not quote me but it is upwards of $3,000 for one at retail. To be honest someone is better off having the Origin unit at home and leaving the trickle charger in their LEAF. If you have any further questions let me know. Kind Regards, Dean Despotovsk,Oops, he said not to quote him so I italicised him instead! Still, we wouldn't hold him to it. here is the quote for ECU. He still speaks to me, but usually only when I have a question. I have a feeling he's a bit disillusioned with the uphill battle that is the Australian public. When was the last time anyone spoke to Dean? He didn't reply to my last two emails about Nissan's involvement with our meets.

Perhaps nissan could have a firesale
Magic Nissan already might have made a prediction with their typo of $31,990 a month ago.
John Hughes is selling a $52k imiev for $31,990 at the mo.
would be interesting to see if Aussie Public would be willing to part with $31,990 for a LEAF.
And of course there are the near new $25k imievs. But there is one weird seller who wants $44k for a non satnav imiev. All LEAF stock might disappear at $25k drive away.

I think without government incentives and a major marketing push the Australian public is unlikely to be convinced.

Could BMW's efforts for government incentives with the i3 have a sideeffect of promoting LEAF sales as well? One hopes!
