We got rid of our VW Golf for a LEAF. I would never trust VW again after owning two lemons from them. Just do a search for 118TSI and DSG failures and you'll see a lot of people who went through the same problems and the poor response from VW.
I enjoyed some schadenfreude with the recent reluctant recall of their DSG gearboxes just to appease the public. Not my problem anymore! Go team Nissan! Looking forward to seeing VW and the other competition trail behind Nissan when the EV race heats up.

Agree, although I am still dismayed by how little Nissan has pushed their little wonder, the leaf, at least in Australia. I guess nothing like a bit of competition

I agree with Feng after a VW transporter I had blew 2x turbos and an auto transmission within 60K km's. Swore I would not touch another "peoples car" again!

ditto I will never buy a VW again, until the e-Golf maybe with its paddle shift regen, according to Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield. a) 2.0 TDi, DSG sunglass holder kept buzzing; they probably should superglue it in future. b) 2000 rpm in blue-motion, some sort of flywheel sound; mechanic said it was "normal"
funny how I get out of the car marque just in time eg. a) toyota prius - before the accelerator stick
check this out next time you have a prius flick it into neutral at the lights note that engine runs forever To stop this 1) wait till engine stops 2) flick into neutral this occurs on the Toyota Camry Hybrid as well Holden Volt = no problem.
b) golf - before their DSG woes.
I have the vibe that the LEAF is based on a Golf, almost. The Golf has slightly more automation.

We have owned five of them, and all to the latest model. Q. Why would one flip it into neutral at any time apart from parking up.... LEAF doesn't need this either. Yes, I've read the noise, and met many owners, and not one has confirmed this mystery. Toyota did a no real fix to remedy. Sadly, if an owner drives it beyond how it's meant to be, they should expect this. The ice runs for only a few reasons. One is keeping the cat convertir warm on earlier models, changed on later versions. We tried, & tried, & tried, & tried as actual owners (and many others)to replicate this issue... not once in close to 2 million kms combined did it happen to us. Unluckily for technology, there's always the odd ball owner. Many have concluded throttle obstruction. Camry has not seen this from real owners. Just ask taxi drivers. As a side line here. One cannot simply flick the THS into neutral, it requires a lengthy, positive intent. Deliberately set out to confuse the technology, and like most vehicles, things may not turn out as normal!.

Just to avoid more confusion... If it runs forever... how can one wait until it stops?.
It has a number of reasons to run the ice. Explore the logic.

I have. Nice, simple design. Beware the internet for information resource. It's like a badly managed library. Fiction & comics to one side, facts can be un-ravelled at the other. Believe mutterings on the internet, and the world would be populated with spandex wearing, sharp pointy stick wielding do-gooders!. I apologise if I appear to be personal, it is not my intent. However some times it's useful to put things in perspective. Personally, BMW. are very over-rated... many new ones I've owned had very silly errors that should never had been overlooked. Now just consider that the BMW may! be tested, & subject to the same VW-esque certificates?. Yes, I'm European, and like many that can buy the cars, Audi, BMW etc are an average car. Ok, the 800 pound ash tray made them exclusive. Maybe most cars have their real issues. Even the TESLA has a burning issue.

I like to relax with foot off foot brake Hence flipping Prius into Neutral and deploying the foot park brake. This is for extended stops; 2 mins
This is the reason I went with Vw blue motion. BMW 1 series' engine fires up when lifting foot off foot brake.
Mk 7 golf and x3 with hill hold - engine starts only when accelerator is depressed.
With i3 I use the ebrake at long lights but leave it in drive With ex volt I use ebrake then put it into neutral on the stick With Imiev I use hand brake and stick it into neutral

Be prepared for a nice bill for a starter on the old BM. Paid out close to 1800 bucks on our last one. They seem like a good idea at the time. Had the ignition coil issue yet?. I surrendered after having them changed three times, I put up with the lumpy idle appearing. I binned the car then. Earlier model kept rubbing the back door on the rear of the quarter glass for some reason. It looked shabby for all the accolades. My earlier than that one got re-appropriated by some scum-bag. They knew the three simple moves to take it. Had the usual plastic header issues on two of three of them. First one ruined the engine, so was taken to market. Then there was the phenomenal routine!! service in the M3. They had to strip out all the inlet... and my wallet. No prizes for guessing my stance. However, if the Ev(hybrid-ish) was more EV, than it is, and only in my opinion here... styled better than a Citroen Dyane inside, it maaay change the future purchase of an EV. Audi. More bad experiences than I care to scribble here.
I'm still struck on the ZOE for its value, interior & practicality... at a reasonable price.
The 996... sparse interior, good quality coach-work... more than I can say for the thin layer on the LEAF sadly. Valium should be prescribed as an owner. Absolute lunacy on wet slip roads.
LEAF has most of the boxes ticked for our lives now. It darts around if requested to do so, comfortable, very well appointed across the spectrum & you gotta love the technology.
