Hi folk's, I see the US 2011 model on has voice dialling. Its not mentioned in the Aussie manual, except to say the voice dial button has no function. Any ideas on how to make this work at all?
Thanks Stew

When I took delivered of my LEAF the dealer told me its only a software update to allow the functionality but it was not yet approved for Australia..?
I'll be asking for this again at my next service, it's annoying not having it.

I have voice dialling in the LEAF, I just push the home button on my iPhone and tell SIRI who I want to call, all via Bluetooth.

Hi Guys I was disappointed by Nissan Australia's answer saying that it was not enabled in Australia because our accents are too broad and that it would cause too much frustration when it did not recognise what we were saying. Can't see how smart phones manage to understand us but the car won't. Nissan should enable it and allow us to use it at our peril. Very frustrating when the button is there on the steering wheel.

Can't see how smart phones manage to understand us but the car won't. a lot of the smart phones have dynamic adjustment for accent they talk back to either apple or google servers. (who knows what these mega companies do with everyone’s recorded voice) you need to compare it to early non-dynamic voice recognition like early 2000 Nokia

But why not allow the owner to choose whether to use it or not?
Nissan could enable this easily for Australian users but choose not to.

Welcome to the forum datsunleaf, pretty cool to have a few new members to join us recently! There's a way to bring up a diagnostic screen to see version numbers and perform some tests (see here) but no way to enable voice recognition. Next time I get my car serviced I might talk to the service manager about it, maybe there's something they can enable with Consult III+ if politely asked. One can hope!

unfortunately its not a consult option, I've got one and its not available. I am certain it is because of Oz only software which removes the feature

I am certain it is because of Oz only software which removes the feature Yeah when I took deliverey if mine I was told it's not currently in the AU software but 'eventually' would be. I don't think anyone here has any software updates at all where as the overseas models seem to require them quite a lot. It is an annoying thing not to have the voice dialing.
