Today's bit of totally useless information is that it appears you do not get regeneration when going backwards Recently, I was reversing down a long, steep driveway with foot off the accelerator. Even when braking, no regeneration registered . . . oh well, you can't have everything. I don't know of any other car that can go as fast backwards as it can go forwards - the petrol heads have no answer to that

Heh, that's great! Guess the generator is going backwards so you're lucky it didn't drain the battery! I know, I know, doesn't work that way...

Hey Brian, you are probably asking the wrong petrol heads The DAF 600 could go as fast in reverse as I could in forward [imghttp://www.motorbase.com//pictures/contributions/20000524/std_1961_Daf_600.jpg][/img] Quote: "The system had the same advantages as an automatic gearbox but could drive as fast in reverse as forwards. The car weighed 575 kg (1,265 lb) and had a top speed of under 56 mph (90 kph). " www.motorbase.com/vehicle/by-id/304972339/So did you have the kahunas to take it up to 95 km/h? Otherwise no record here.... ;D

haha actually I did run a motorkhana course in backwards, and it did include a reasonable straight. the problem of course is that you can't watch a speedo when you are looking out the rear window I would guess we got to 60 or 80 at the max.

Hey Duncan,
of course I had to try that today, as well.
My daughter looked at the speedo while I was flooring it in reverse.
Got up to 45 km/h and didn't go any higher.
Even when we increased the ramp up distance...
Maybe older cars have different soft ware that allows the motor keep on spinning?
