In Australia we have a spare wheel under the boot floor so there is no room for those containers. Most countries don't have a spare wheel, but the Australian govt requires it.

Does the spare wheel raise the height of the boot floor? If you're keen to get one Marty, maybe it's worth making contact with a US owner and ask them to measure the depth of their boot? Amazon sells it: www.amazon.com/Genuine-Nissan-Accessories-999C2-8X000-Organizer/dp/B00937SDM8/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1. It'll be $385 by the time it gets sent to here though. Looks a lot tidier than the cardboard boxes we're currently using!

From the photo above, the boot floor looks to be in the same place as ours is.

I wouldn't have thought they modify the body/trunk floor for Oz delivered cars? The way it looks to me the gadget just fills the hole up to where the plastic step is so it gives you a straight and flat loading area when the seats are down (which I like about it..... But I might be wrong?

But I might be wrong as in this picture it looks less deep in there? Unless the pic image is from a pre production car, maybe. This is what the 2013 model will look like:

You might be right, Marty. I measured the drop from the plastic step to the floor of the boot and it is 25cm. I brought home a new computer printer/scanner the other day and I needed that 25cm to fit it in the boot. I wouldn't want to loose that space to that container. I guess it lifts out if you need the space.
