I have recently become a user of a 2021 Leaf e+. I took it for a drive from my place in Katoomba to Wollongong. I planned to charge it at the NRMA super charger near Wollongong stadium. When I got there I found one charger was was in use by a Tesla and the second was not working. There was another Tesla owner waiting for the charger. It was Friday peak hour so I decided to come back when it was a little more quiet. I came back at 1:30 am to find that the Tesla owner that had been waiting had put his car on charge and left it overnight. I came back later that morning to find another Tesla in the spot with a five year old kid in the car and the owner nowhere to be seen.
I then hunted around for another charger and stumbled upon one at 71 Market St while looking for Wollongong Central - Regent St Entrance. The charger would not fit my Leaf. There was a Tesla charger not in use and my friend looked at the plug. To my great surprise it actually fit my Leaf. I charged it using the Tesla charger for 1 hour and it went from 64 to 76%. I was surprised at how little it increased the battery charge but when I got back to Katoomba my charge was 17%. Just enough to avoid range anxiety.
I just wanted to know if many Tesla charger plugs will fit Leaf e+? I expect that if they do I will cop some flak from Tesla owners. What advice does anyone have on this conundrum?

Most CCS2 "chargers" should charge that LEAF at 7 kW Max. It is a good idea to check Tesla destination chargers on plug share first to see if other non Teslas (some will only charge Teslas) have been able to charge there first. You need a CHADEMO DC fast charger if you need faster charging.

Yeah all Teslas in Australia (apart from the very early Roadsters I believe) have a Type 2 plug, so you shouldn't have any issues with Tesla Destination chargers. Teslas either use the AC Part of the CCS2, or the early Model S/X that don't use CCS2 have a modified Type 2 plug with a notch. Tesla Superchargers won't work since they do a handshake with the car. But the smaller ones at shopping centre/hotels etc should work. It's a shame you've come across so many inconsiderate EV owners. Hopefully just ignorance and not intentional. And with Teslas being so common, it's unfortunately more likely to be them. And if they never see anyone else wait for them to finish, they might think they're not holding anyone up. Maybe you can modify and print a few 'ICEing Notices' like the one attached, and put them on their windshield. In this case it isn't a petrol/diesel car blocking a Charging Station, but an EV overstaying. They should be told to move on as soon as they're done charging. Attachments:
