I'm sure that not all Nissan service centres are equal, doubly so when it comes to servicing the LEAF. So who here trusts their service centre and which ones should be avoided? I got my 1,000km service done today and I'm glad the battery results got full marks. Another owner in Melbourne (see aussieleaf.tumblr.com) has a LEAF which is one month younger than mine and theirs had already lost a star when it got its 1k service. The fact that our cars were over a year old when they were purchased had me concerned. For those who prefer it, the mechanics are able to reprogram the doors so that they automatically lock when the car is in motion. I find the door lock switch difficult to find in the dark!

Hi Feng, I've had great service from Steve Jarvin Nissan, but can't really comment on whether they actually did anything or not!
Interesting point about auto locking doors while moving.

hmm I think I mentioned my feedback on Sydney Nissan servicing elsewhere....not impressed at all.
And Phoebe had an even worse experience at Artamon (ie, being forced to pay for the free 1000klm service).
As is so often the case, Nissan dealers seem to be off the mark again. I'll try Top Ryde next time (although I've had issues there a few years back, and they are the same dealer that had an apprentice mechanic write off a customer 200sx on a "test" drive), and Five Dock if they don't impress

I'm starting to think that the LEAF is a major priority to upper management, but at the dealer level it's pretty much a distraction and nuisance for most of them.
The exception is Jayson at Steve Jarvin. He only specialises in two models, the LEAF being one of them. He takes it very seriously and stays on top of everything that is happening.
Seems like at other dealers they look at you as if to say "You want a LEAF? Why?"

I still feel a bit guilty for not buying my LEAF from Jayson! Stopped by his office after hours this week to test out the Chargepoint. It's good advertising to have such a large sign and good lighting on the side of the building to show that it's a public EV charging station.
I'd be happy if Nissan released a software upgrade for the LEAF. According to a post Facebook, the Australian LEAF is on bootware version 030 while the US model is already up to version 181. Not sure how many versions are in between. There must be some decent bugfixes and improvements in that time.

I am likely to be the first to get to 20K service (on 17K at the moment). I was not impressed (at all) with Sydney city Nissan service, where I bought it, so may look elsewhere (Burwood not so far for me and seems all agree is the best). Will let you know when I get there

Will let you know when I get there Rockdale Nissan now sells the LEAF, we might take ours there for our next service since it's closest. Will let you know how it goes, we've only passed 2000km this week.

Just a clarification (because it's in the manual!): You can enable or disable the auto lock feature yourself by shutting the doors, turning on the car and pressing the door unlock button for over 5 seconds until the hazard lights flash once. This must be done within 20 seconds of turning on the car. This goes for enabling and disabling the feature.

So it does pay to read the manual! First thing in the morning I'm setting my doors to auto lock. Glad I don't have to wait to go in for a service. I've never had a car not auto lock.
