I was browsing carsales and this thing popped up. Only one available in Australia. My understanding of the Note e-Power is that it uses petrol to charge the battery which then powers the wheels via an electric motor and the petrol engine never provides direct motive power to the wheels. $30k is a bit steep for my liking for such a car but it's quite unique in our market. I think more might be on their way once November 2019 hits due to relaxation of importation rules for eco vehicles. Link here: www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Nissan-Note-2017/OAG-AD-16663966/?Cr=0

Yeah, not a plug in hybrid either. It’s quite a weird vehicle.
I remember an article quoting a Nissan executive describing it as having the benefits of driving an electric car in terms of smooth instant torque without the range anxiety.
I think EVs with 60kwh+ batteries will see this form of electrification largely redundant.
Interestingly, Nissan is looking into this technology for the Navara Ute.

Just need to get one cheap with a u/s petrol motor. Sure could fit a big battery in the back of a Ute.
