I think this is relevant to Leaf owners but if not feel free to ignore.
I setup a SolarCoin Wallet sometime ago to get some free solar coins allocated for the solar panels installed on my roof. At the time they were values at about 5 cents (USD). I also purchased a few at the same time. ( not many less than $60). They have recently gone up in value where the hit a peak of $2 USD and currently about $1.60. Since many of you have got solar panels you might not be aware that you can claim the solar coins for free. Well there is always a cost and the claim process is a bit tedious but you never know if their value does anything even slightly similar to bitcoin it would definately be worth your while.

I have a solar coin account, i registered after watching an episode about it via the Now You Know channel on Youtube. I have no idea how to turn it into money or anything.. but every quarter some get allocated to me based on the total capacity of my solar panel system.
Great Pharmadave - have a read of some of the doco - it is a bit fiddly but you setup and account on a crypto exchange that accepts SolarCoins (SLR) and then you can exchange if for other crypto currencies like bitcoin or into "real" money. I use the Lykke crypto exchange via a mobile phone app - www.lykke.com/ but have never withdrawn any money and likewise have only spent less then $200 over time in little amounts buying some SLR in addition to the free ones I got for my solar panels. For me it is a bit of a learning exercise but you can't help but keep in the back of your mind what if the value took off like bitcoin...
That aside the global community aspect is also very exciting and anything that encourages greater use of renewable energy is worth supporting.
