I decided to change the cabin air filter as I started noticing the air coming from the vents having a bit of a funny smell. I bought a replacement activated charcoal filter. Found some instructions online about replacing it. I thought I'd share a picture of the filter that I removed from the car. If you haven't changed yours, I highly encourage you to strongly consider it for the sake of your lungs. By the way, the filter is supposed to be tissue paper white.

Where is it? The only filter I know if is the aircon filter, which they want to change when they service my LEAF but I was advised early on I don't need to as I don't use the aircon and the filter was as clean as a whistle.

It is located in the centre console behind the gps unit. It's accessed via the passenger side foot well. There are videos on YouTube of people changing it. I'll post the links.
Be careful of the clips that hold it in place, I accidental snapped both sides of the clip due to my clumsiness, it should be a cheap enough part to replace.

Any idea what they actually do at the service? I've never had one done, not yet anyway.

Change the air filters, top up the fluid in the windscreen wipers, get a reading on the battery, check the 12 volt battery, check the tyres - really difficult things like that. The only reason I ever got it done was warranty is voided if you don't. Now I'll probably only go once a year for a rego check - I'll need my first one of those in November.

In that case, I've just replaced my own cabin air filter, put a new optima 12V battery in, got brand new front and rear wiper blades, tyres are quite a bit above wear indicators and hardly use the windscreen washer fluid.
I guess I might hold off on the service till after winter at least.

Yes, so long as your not worried about possible warranty claims.

No point going to Nissan for the service then, just take it to any competent mechanic if it's out of warranty and doesn't have any EV related error lights. They are mechanically and 12v electrically just another hatchback

Important note here, Have the substance filtered out analysed, and have a look under a microscope at it. It's shocking.
These cabin air filters are a giant leap forward in occupant health, and well worth the out-lay.

Just had mine serviced and they didn't have a filter in stock, they said mine was clean enough anyway. At least they deducted the filter cost from the service charge.

Sorry for the slow response Phoebe...but on the bright side at least it's not November yet Yes pretty much every mechanic in NSW can do a rego check for about $25. Definitely never pay dealer prices for that...

I booked myself in for a dealer service next week as the car is prompting me that a service is due. The dealer worked out that it should be due for the 40,000 service which is considered a major service. Anyone have a record of their 40,000km service and what work was done at that service and cost?
Thanks in advance.
