Since we bought our LEAF last year, every so often I check on Carsales to see the state of affairs in terms of the number of LEAFs for sale on carsales.
Right now, I can see that there are only 4 LEAFs available for sale! 2 private and 2 dealer vehicles.
The number has steadily dropped from about 15 from around the time we bought ours till now.
I reckon these 4 won't be around for too long, any guesses before the number reaches zero?

I expect that more second-hand Leafs will be listed over the next few years as new EVs become available, and their range drops with age and they no longer can meet some owner's needs. But as not many were sold, I wouldn't expect great numbers to be for sale.

The future of the 1st gen LEAFs in Australia will be an interesting case study because this is the first time a motor vehicle carries something with it that has quite a large retained value (I.e. The battery pack). The shell of the car will become scrap at some stage but I can't imagine the drivetrain and battery becoming scrap. I can imagine the homebrew EV converters and home battery storage scene being quite keen to get their hands on the components.
I'm more interested in upgrading the battery pack over time as the current degrades over time. My hope is that there will be thriving industry in second life batteries and after market high energy density battery packs for current gen EVs.

Was at Northside Nissan , Perth on Friday to battery test ( dealership test is essentially useless and not granular enough ) two Leafs for an AEVA corporate member, they both came out at 95% which, for a 5 year old leaf and bearing in mind mine which is below 80% is excellent. Can count them as sold - a red one and a black one. While I was there , another one was in the process of being sold. Fellow was in the financier's office while I was there. That leaves zero Gen 1 ( although saying Gen 1 is moot ) Leafs for sale in Perth.

Count down has arrived. As of right now, there are no Leafs listed on Carsales. There might be some on other sites, I'm not sure but it's a special moment.

Interesting commentary on the new leaf.. The old Leaf.. "Withdrawn from sale in Australia due to a lack of interest, the previous model had a range of about 135km with outputs of 80kW/280Nm." Maybe because of; A lack of proactive advertising A lack of dealer support A lack of after sales support A lack of vehicle infrastructure (In other countries supported by Nissan) etc. www.gympietimes.com.au/news/new-nissan-leaf-electric-vehicle-to-have-400km-ran/3220739/#/0
