Hi all
Since getting my LEAF, I've used an 8A charger at home and plugged into my house plug. VERY occasionally the car makes as if it's charging, (lights flash momentarily and beep-beep) but then there's a clunk and it doesn't charge. The only way to have resolved it in the past seems to be some combination of "changing indoor plugs, re-plugging charger in to car, waiting a half-hour, starting car, stopping car... " although I've not actually worked out what's fixing it. It's only happened 3-4 times in a month so not worried...
Until yesterday... Wife has car at home and getting beep-beep-clunk! No combination of above solutions seem to work over last 24 hours! No charging!!! During a trip today, she noticed a yellow triangle with exclamation mark inside (that's a bad sign I know)...
Hoping to try a 15A plug when I get home tomorrow at a Nissan Service Centre to see if that's clears things up. 18km left!
Has anyone experienced the beep-beep-clunk, no-charge issue and discovered the cause and solution?
Cheers

Is there a fault light on the EVSE? It might be a problem with the earth of your electrical circuit since the EVSE is meant to check for that.
What happens if you disconnect your car's 12V battery for a few minutes, will that clear the yellow exclaimation light?

I assume you aren't using the Leaf EVSE because you haven't a 15A socket. What is the 8A you are using?

That doesn't sound good.
Have you been in touch with the supplier of the EVSE - is it Mark Yates at Juicepoint? See if he has any ideas, especially given that the problem could reside with the EVSE.
A second idea is to post the problem on mynissanleaf.com, as it'll have some wider readership with more cars and more problems.
What a shame you are ever-so-slightly out of range, or I could whip over with my EVSE ...

gabz: no. Feng: will let service centre do that. the reason I asked if it's rained is the earth connection is a cable connected to a pipe in the ground. If you have a poor earth connection you just water it. be friendly and ask a neighbour see if it's your house or the LEAF.

That was going to be my suggestion. It threw me a few times when I first got my vehicle but now I know better. Most of the time.

Hi all. Thanks for advice. The EVSE I'm using is the Portable 8A JuicePoint one, and yes it's because I don't have 15A at home. However there is a 15A JuicePoint charger down at the local Service Centre which I'll try on my return if other suggestions fail.
Will try plugging in at work on the way, thanks gavz.
I have the timers set for 12AM to 12AM, 80% and a single heating timer Mon-Fri, 8:30am with heating overriding the charger. Will try turning those off when I get home and see if any difference... I guess that was the gist of the link g4qber?

I'm assuming you've tried the timer over ride button to see if it makes a difference?

Will try turning those off when I get home and see if that makes any difference.. All you have to do is press the timer override button on the dash - you get 5 minutes to start a manual charge. It's underneath the trip set button.

Yes - I use that when I want a 100% charge. I'll do that and see what happens too.

Wouldn't you know it, I get home, plug it in and it works! So, mystery continues - although it IS raining (and has been for a while) so might lend credence to the house's Earth connection... So gabz - I shall check that option if it fails again and it's dry.
