Finally after much persuasion to the National Sustainability Manager, Commercial Property, from Stockland they have installed a Level 2 ChargePoint at my local shopping centre, Point Cook Town Centre.
I guess I'll have to fight jacky for the spot sometimes!
I've added it to Plugshare. It's now another spot to change while we shop/eat. And if someone needs a little extra juice on the way to Geelong they have some where to stop.
Would be better if it was a quick charger but baby steps.

Sure, it will be much better to have a rapid charger for a Geelong trip. Have your tried a Geelong trip? I checked it on Carwings trip planner and it seems we need to charge in Geelong to come back to Point Cook. Once again, thanks for the effort!

We generally just go to one place there and not drive around but usually return home with 20-30kms remaining with 3 or 4 bars.

Are you driving to the speed limit? I am surprised to know it still have 3 - 4 bars after a round trip. Does it mean the car can still very marginally do it with 80% (i.e., 9.6 bars > 12 - 3 bars)? I used the charger today. There are no sign of EV charger or reserved for EVs. Do you know if the spot will be reserved for EVs? My wife and I had talked about having charger in shopping centre a few days ago; however, there were none in Melbourne. I am going to use it more frequent so that Stockland can see a demand on chargers and more willing to install more in other shopping centres.

Geelong is only 50kms each way. I would probably sit at 95-100kph. If your worried about the trip do it on a day when the Nissan dealer is open so you can use their ChargePoint. That said I probably wouldn't try with only 80%. Signage for the space at the Town Centre is coming. The station was only just installed this week. I'm not sure what sort of signs it will be but the guy who has organized it says it should be good enough to ensure we won't get ICE'd hahha. Hopefully they put some markings on the ground too. I have suggested to him a cone/bollard in the space that we can move and replace when we park there also. I guess it's in the least busiest underground car park so least chance of being blocked also. But that said its the least convenient place to park to do the groceries at Coles then lug the trolly back there. Beggars can't be choosers I guess. And hopefully this is the first of more... Fingers crossed.

I guess I'll have to fight jacky for the spot sometimes! Haha, it seems we shared the charger quite well. I went for a charge this evening and the security closed the car park at 7 pm. I can't charge when I was having my dinner there. Btw, I think you arrived Swinburne quick charger shortly after I left today.

7pm seems early to close it. Maybe we can check with centre managment why it's closed so early. I did use the charge today, although the spot was 'ICE'd' I parked behing and the cord reached. Although we were in a hurry to leave and I neglected to tidy the cord correctly. My bad. It wasn't me at Swinburne today but I did see the check ins so close to each other!

The shopping centre closed at 5 pm (but the restaurants didn't) so I can't complain about it being close too early; However, it definitely give me more reasons to dine in Point Cook Town Centre if I can use the charge point. Don't worry about the cord. I tidied it up but not exactly the way I wanted because the security was closing the car park.

King George car park in brisbane uses traffic cones as well. Seems to work well. Also helps it's in direct view of where the car park staff are located.

Tried to charge today but the charger is completely ICE'd. However, the management were there and I have talked to them. They immediately acknowledged the needs of the sign for EV spot. They were surprised about the low running cost of the car and I also told them the benefits of having the charger in the shopping centre car park. I also expressed the inconvenience of the car park closing time for a dinner in the centre. The EV sign will be installed in a week or two.

I got the spot behind lucky it was free. I have no idea why Pepe want to park there. It's so far from the centre entrance door! If the cord will reach to any spot around there I'll just park wherevere and plug in. Hopefully once the sign goes up they place the cone in the spot too. If not I'll hunt around the car park and find one to put there.

Haha. I am back to charge now. I think I saw you coming out from the car park. The car that ICE'd the spot parked more than three hours there. I am charging behind the ev spot.

So I go for a spot of shopping today and go to our reserved space (hahaha) and there was an Outlander PHEV charging!
So I feel annoyed that I couldnt plug in my pure EV while this PHEV was hogging the spot.
I guess as more EVs and PHEVs (volt, outlander, i3rex) arrive these L2 stations will become choked while they are free.
In the plus side it might encourage Stockland to increase the number of chargers if it's in use all the time.

There are a lot of Plug-in Outlander over there and they blocked the charger from other EVs. In my opinion, they should have the right to charge and we should have more chargers When I talked to Stockland marketing staff yesterday, I can see that they are willing to install more chargers in Point Cook Town Centre (and I take it as they also willing to install more in their other shopping centres) if the charger bring benefits to them. BTW, do you think Point Cook/Werribee has the highest population density of plug-in cars in Victoria? We have 4 LEAFs and (possibly) 1 Outlander here!

The outlander dude sent me a msg on Plugshare. I left them a note to download it. He said they were from West Footscray but noticed the new station on the ChargePoint app so come over to check out the centre.
He said they usually go to high point for grocerys etc so maybe we have a convert. Glad it brings business.
As of yesterday my Stockland contact said there was two unique users since logging started in 1st Feb. I'm guessing that's you and me! But from today that 3 users! He said with growing use it would certainly encourage them to add more units. *fingers crissed*
Hopefully the other LEAF owners here notice it soon.

Hi guys signed up just to say congrats to Leafboi and well done on persuading Stockland to install the charger. It should make similar conversations much more successful. I'm not a Leaf driver but have an EV so will make a point of charging there Thanks again and well done.

Unaware of Swinburne rapid charger was down. Was worried not enough charge to go home. Visited BMW Melbourne city for charging as chargers are show on charge point website. When I arrived, the dealer told me the charger was not fit to my car, then said there will be no problem with a BMW but mine isn't. I am pretty sure mine, my son's and my grand children's won't be a BMW! Fortunately, I arrived in the point cook charger with 9km left in GoM. If the Chargers are not available for charge point customers, they should not show them on their website!!

Well not from that dealer, anyway. I'm sure some with a LEAF have posted charging at BMW somewhere!
