I've had the car for 2 years and only just today have my first fast charge.
Very simple and very quick (an obvious comment I know).
I know fast chargers are sparse in Victoria at the moment, but there has to be a logical case for the petrol & fast food sites to stick one of these on ? One west of Geelong, one South of Frankston and one somewhere in Gippsland.
How do we make/influence it to happen ?

Well Victoria has the most at 2. The ones in vic have a sticker price of $55000. The cheapest price I've found is $30 000. To give you an idea of the task
So to encourage more buy more evs and use the ones you have more so they have good usage statistics.

Another issue is the "one at a time" nature. We've seen concept designs of a quick charger with several cables that can connect a bunch of cars at once and charge them in turn.
While it's a single it will remain a novelty.

Geez, $55k, for that kind of money you would think they come with at least 10 cables on them. Or at least they should throw in a LEAF for free with it ... :-)

have having a closer look at how renault do it. I’m thinking Nissan Mitsubishi and bmw have got it all wrong put the charger inside the car (how come we only have 3kw 3.3kw and 7kw when Renault have 22kw) and leave outside just AC much cheaper for the chargers i.e $1k-$5k instead of $30-60k since they are inside the car they are less expensive as it has a smaller DC voltage range 300-400V where as CHAdeMO certified charges have to do voltages 100-500V to accommodate everything from a bike to a model S

How do we make/influence it to happen ? I think the best chance is to approach powershop and ask them about doing something similar to ecotricity www.ecotricity.co.uk/for-the-road/our-electric-highwayecotricity I believe is a bigger company what that market segment seems to be what powershop are after.

I've had the car for 2 years and only just today have my first fast charge. Very simple and very quick (an obvious comment I know). Tony (fast charging right now) after a trip to Haighs Hey Tony, How lucky you are the charger was working. To be honest I've found that unit to be the most unreliable. It sure isn't looked after like Morelands fast charger. Did you check the ChargePoint app before you arrived? I used it on the 14th it was perfect, went against on the 15th and bang, no surprise, it stopped working. ChargePoint was very helpful though. Well as helpful as they could be. Over the air resets didn't work. I kept without a charge. I received a call on the 25th to bring my car down and use it in the afternoon to check if it was working but I was unavailable. So you were so lucky they had been there that day fixing it. But you didn't check in with the PlugShare app. I get so excited when I see someone else checking in, I feel like I'm the only one using it sometimes.

I thought i don't get anywhere without asking - so I just sent the following through to BP Australia Service Station group :
As an electric car owner for the last 2 years (with a home charger) I have just had a chance to try out the fast charger installed at Swinburne University in Hawthorn Victoria.
I cannot help but think for a relatively small outlay (in comparison to an individual petrol pump install and maintenance) there is a business case for BP piloting a fast charger (based on the ChaDeMo standard) at one of your larger stations - such as those on Eastlink in Victoria.
A fast charger can be installed away from the main pumps, in a location surrounded by 4 parking spots (for example) to maximise the chances of it being available to use. The biggest draw for BP to operate these is the fact that cars like mine (Nissan LEAF) take 20 mins to reach 80% charge - with those 20 minutes being a great time for the owner and passengers to buy food/snacks/drinks etc from the shops within the station location.
I realise that there is a chicken and egg situation with electric cars numbers at present - but with Tesla about to start shipping its Model S to Australia, Nissan LEAF's and Mitsubishi iMiev's already here (and Renault getting expressions of interest for its Zoe) now is the time for a progressive station operators such as BP to show a lead and roll out / pilot fast chargers.
Current fast chargers (such as those in Swinburne Uni) cost upto $50k but others are available at the $30k price point. Costs vary as well based on the electricity infrastructure already in place in the site.
I think this is a great opportunity for BP at relatively low cost (for BP). I would appreciate if you would pass my enquiry onto someone who could respond. I will also share my enquiry with the online community of LEAF owners (http://ozleaf.proboards.com) who would provide the start of the customer base !

nope no harm but it looks like RACV would be worth an email too since it looks like RAC WA will be paying for their first EV highway. and nrma (the nsw RAC) also has paid CHAdeMO station in NSW. so you better tell them they'll be left behind if they don't move too.

I know you've been on your own for a while but expect to see a white leaf at either of these in the very near future
