We all know we love our LEAFs, and are total enthusiasts for the car. For all that we ' spruick ' the LEAF to everyone we know and meet, these people probably have two things holding them back from experiencing the joy of the LEAF - ( 1 ) Fear / ignorance of the unknown ' electric ' technology ( 2 ) Fear of pushy sales people The former can be overcome with a test drive. The latter can now be overcome with a non-dealer test drive in Perth through www.myelectriccar.com.auSo, Perthites, pass this link on to anyone remotely interested - it will save having your car used for those test drives.

Hi Brian - Leo from My Electric Car - thanks for letting everyone know about the Leaf Test Drives in Perth - I'm really enjoying the reaction from people when they get the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Leaf (without the car yard salesman hovering in the background).

(I've decided they can't have it back!!!!!!!! )Good decision, Leo It is also a smart decision by Nissan - they know that if they can ' get the bums on seats ' the cars will sell themselves. It would be very interesting to see how many test drives you get during the period, as opposed to the combination of Northside Nissan and Magic Nissan.

this is what I've been doing.
Parking at Barlee St during the day on Weekends and watching people say "ooh I didn't realise that there was a charging spot here" "look an electric car"
Perhaps we could have a permanent stand at Barlee St on Weekends saying "Free Electric Vehicle Test Drives" similar to "Free coffee for Driver" ooh just had a thought perhaps we could commandeer the "Free Coffee for Driver" on the Forrest Hwy with "Free coffee and EV Test Drive" this would be especially be useful when the Electric Highway gets built.
Also we could also be EVangelists on the street similar to those groups in the malls handing out flyers. or perhaps this is too much?
I wonder if the $37k price for SEA members can be extended. would be interesting to see what would happen if the new price was dropped to $32k driveway for a short period of time.

I would almost be in for that g4. Do you think Nissan and Mitsubishi would be up for it as well?
What plug is required at the Barlee St car park?

Do you still have to pay for parking at Barlee St if using (charging) the EV spot?

First hour free at barlee As per all cars
15 amp socket One good reason To use volt evse. It doesn't have the massive all weather 15 amp plug.
Only thing is that volt evse can't be locked
Bollard will SMS you if charge coupler is unplugged for a long time Also will SMS when fully charged.

Does anyone know how many new leafs are left in Perth or nationally ? If you mean without owners? I messaged someone from Northside Nissan last mouth and he said about 20 left in Perth and close to 200 nationwide.

I messaged someone from Northside Nissan last mouth and he said about 20 left in Perth and close to 200 nationwide. I wonder if they are starting to have problems giving people the colour they want. There may be some interstate juggling now. according to Wiki sales of this model in Australia reached 320 total by end June 2014, with 68 in the first six months of 2014. Sales are increasing slowly, but it still looks like a year or so before that 200 is gone. I wonder if Nissan uses a calender or Fiscal year for car models. 320 (total sold at end June 14) plus 200 (unsold at end June 14?) = 520 No mention of New Zealand in Wiki, so I guess they are credited as part of the Australian figures (nothing new there). But 200 in country does imply Australia only.

We generally believe that they are all 2012 / original shipment. Local Nissan salesman indicated that Nissan may not bring the 2014 model to Australia. This is probably because the up-take rate on the 2012 model has been relatively slow initially - due to new 'tech ', minimal marketing, etc.. The Oil Barons, and the I.C.E. trade, in Oz have propagated the myth of ' Range Anxiety ' very successfully. Therefore, it is my suspicion that Nissan may wait for new battery technology that is " just around the corner " ( read as 1 or 2 years )so that the next LEAF in Oz could have a range of around 300 kms. In denser markets, the indication is that they may shortly ( 2015 ) offer different range options, with appropriate pricing ( copying the Tesla model ). However, the potential Australian volume is unlikely to justify the capital investment in stock to make that viable here. This is all suposition on my part. In the meantime, I believe that the majority of owners on this Forum find that the present range suits their needs better than 98% of the time.

Complianced in early 2014, sold in mid 2014 Not sure whether this means that they sold all the 2012s or what. It's certainly a Gen one though.

I'm interested in buying one, even contacted carbroker.com.au in attempt to get a great deal. They came back to me with a $39,990.00 price. I told them Nissan advertised that as a promo deal until end September. Told me they would find a better deal. Never did hear back! Have the people that wanted an EV trial Leaf got their cars yet? Hello tassietiger, welcome to the forum. I just noticed a dealer in Queensland is selling an ex-demo low kms LEAF for $30K: www.carsales.com.au/demo/details/Nissan-LEAF-2012/AGC-AD-13712076/?Cr=1&sdmvc=1. As long as they've been looking after the battery the car should be like new. Not sure how much it costs transport a car down the coast but if white suits you, it might be worth making an enquiry.

I could only see five that had more than 1,000 km. So the rest must be demo cars?

Looks like they are offloading old demos... With the recent upgrade to carwings there's movement at nissan HQ. Perhaps because they are down to the last few of the 2012 fleet. Based on this site ev-sales.blogspot.com.au total leaf sales upto March 2015 were 470 - and now in Q3 new leafs have to be rare. Perhaps Nissan are about to import new leafs
