Once in a while I'm aware of an underlying hum or buzz in the LEAF. Climate control off as is sound system, lights etc.
Only once in a while and wanted to know if that's common with everyone.
It's not loud, but since the car is silent it does show up faintly.
Would love to know if you hear that sometimes as well.
Cheers,
Jim

I belive it's auto cooling of converter and or drive motors.seems to be audible after a run, doesn't seem to last long.

Ah, that makes sense. Wanted to make sure it wasn't something I should have checked out.
Thanks Bob

The only sound I have heard is at very low speed and I understood that was so pedestrians heard something and didn't walk out in front of you. When I had a test drive of iMiev it didn't seem to have that sound and I nearly ran over a pedestrian.

Hi Phoebe, welcome, great to have you here! Yes, the pedestrian safety chime is pretty cool. There's a button to turn it off but don't know why you would want to.

Perhaps we could re-designate this topic as " Anybody notice ? " It did not seem to be worth opening a new topic just for my " Anybody notice ? " question. So, did anybody notice that the time displayed in the top / speedo console is about 30 seconds ahead of the time shown in the centre console ? i.e. for a while they are in sync, before they drop out of sync. Or is it a unique feature of our LEAF ?

I seem to remember altering mine so they co-incide. Daylight Saving ends here tonight so I'll be interested to see what happens tomorrow and if I have to change anything

funny you should mention....ours changed to daylight saving last week which was a little premature.
BTW about noises....there are 2 fans that I can hear, the climate control/air fan and also something that sounds like a radiator thermo fan..I guess there must be a small radiator system with a thermo fan. I also have a strange humming sometimes when I press the brake pedal...that is much more wierd

I am pretty deaf, even with hearing aids so I don't hear anything except the beep when I am in reverse if I have the window open, and the voice telling me to recharge when I am low on power. Neither of my clocks reset themselves for the end of daylight saving. I think I have now set the one on the console to change itself when daylight saving starts again.

Duncan, I believe the ' radiator fan ' is the cooling system for the inverter. ( The thing that is disguised as a rocker cover under the bonnet ) The brakes are servo assisted, so that hum could be the motor to provide the servo assistance. But, like Phoebe, I can't hear it. On an ICE car you wouldn't hear it above the engine noise, but the quietness of the LEAF means you can.
