Hey Mark, thanks for the followup, great to know I'm not a total idiot for not being able to make it work!
I'll check back on it soon and see if they fixed it. I'll be out that way almost every week with time to kill.

I'll be in Strathfield again tomorrow night so will stop by and see if it's working again.

About what time? Maybe if others are free we can have an impromptu meet around the charger?

Actually scratch that idea, if the charger's still out of order then it would just be a waste of time for all!

I think the critical thing about trying to get this fixed is to talk to them during office hours. I spoke to Mark Williams, when I went. He seems to be the guy in charge of the charger. I'm not sure if it's a good idea telling them that we are (somewhat) organised, and share information with one another etc. If you decide to talk about that to them, tell him I said "hi". Bye the way this is my 100th post - WOOHOO Mark

Sorry, Feng, missed your post! Just as well, this time someone had pushed the emergency stop so it again wasn't working. I reported it to the guard at the desk but as usual it was about 5:15 so no one else there. Congrats on the big 1-0-0 Mark!

There's enough area around the e-stop button for a professional looking sticker to be attached. I'd have it say, "Press this button only if sparks are shooting from your car or this machine. Or if you like to inconvenience friendly EV owners, because that's all that will happen." It brings to mind this kind of prank: stickersonthecentralline.tumblr.com/. Some are comedy gold!

did you try just pulling the e-stop out you rotate it until it pops out ?

Thats right Gab, when I was trying to use it with Mark Williams he played with the stop button too - pressing it and pulling it out again several times.

I certainly did, but it didn't change anything. Plus I thought I read that once it was tripped that only a technician could confirm and reset the error to avoid certain death.

that's certainly the case for the Schindler electric/better place ones. wasn't sure if that was true of the aker wade /nrma one.

Interesting. Definitely didn't clear the error by popping the emergency stop out and touching the screen.
If I thought there was half a chance of it working I would have been more thorough.

I'll be swinging by the NRMA charger again tomorrow afternoon around 5pm. Third time lucky? We'll see!

Not good. Now there is just a home made OUT OF ORDER sign on the NRMA charger. Hoping that's not a sign that they will soon put it in the too hard basket and dump it altogether.
I've stopped by three times in three weeks and haven't been able to charge even once.
I'm sitting at Steve Jarven Nissan charging as we speak, just to give a little boost for the 25km trip home.
It''s the first time my Leaf has been home since we bought it here 20 months ago!

The McDonalds is within walking distance if you want to kill time, that's what we did the first time we drove to Bateau Bay.

Went in there for about 1/2 hour then went back and sat in the car for a while. Didn't have to pick up my daughter for another hour so if I'm going to sit around, may as well be charging! So what's the best online site to check on the status of this beast?

Hey Kris, I don't know that there is one... Most of the time the NRMA don't even know there's something wrong with it and we are the ones pointing it out to them.

I drove past and checked it out tonight, you can save the trip Jim, it's still out of action. I've posted a message on their Facebook page asking for an ETA.

And here's their response: "Hi Matthew, a recent power outage on the street has caused a few problems with the charger but we expect it will be back up and running by the end of the week. We will let you know when it is. Hope this helps, Dan, NRMA Social Team"

Great to see they are still into it! I suppose it helps to be vocal about our support of the charger so they know it's being appreciated now and not just something for the distant future.
Good job Feng, you're a great spokesperson for the group and we appreciate your efforts!

Thanks for the kind words Jim, I hope the novelty never wears off, it's what drives me (boom-tish!).
One night when the charger is fixed and people are free we should all meet up there for a charge and a coffee.

Definitely! I'll drive by next Tuesday and see if it's working. I'm available most Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from about 5-6:30. That's when I'm in the neighbourhood.

That sounds like a great idea. Does anyone know if the cord would reach to the car behind? That would make it a bit more easy to charge up a lot of cars, one after another.
