Thanks for the photos and the info, Jim. I may need it. Yes, Duncan I am not looking forward to trying to get to Artarmon and back for a service, especially as the service dept is a couple of kms further than the dealership. I wish there was a quick charge spot at Hornsby, but there isn't so especially when my range starts to drop, I may need a tow

Hey Phoebe, you can always stop by my place on the way if you want. We're in Killara, directly between Hornsby and Artarmon and have our charger in the garage. Come in for a coffee and top up for those last few KMs!

I have now run mine all the way down. It went from 7 to zero without bothering about the numbers in between so I'm glad I was only driving round the block. Didn't bother to wait for the turtle in case it went straight to full stop without bothering about the turtle.

Really good range Phoebe! I get nothing like that, but I think it's due to our constant short trips. On longer drives ours seems much happier. I'd be lucky to get 135kms from a full charge.

There were 17 short trips in that charge, Jim, and it sometimes lost as many as 4 from the range just by turning the power off and turning it on again. I am going to drive faster on the next charge and see if it makes a difference, still in ECO, with no aircon and still short trips.

Our short trips are often 1/2km dropping kids at school or to the local shops.
If just turning the LEAF on/off eats a measurable percentage than this could be contributing to my perceived loss of range.

Jim, I walk for trips that short My shortest round trip is 8kms. If you are loosing the kind of range I sometimes loose for just turning the power off and on again, then that could partly explain why you only get 135kms out of a charge, 'cos you are doing an awful lot of turning the power on and off

Hah! Yeah, me too! Problem is constantly oversleeping teenagers creating a predictable panic each morning. If it were up to me they would walk and pay the consequences, but this is very stressful on my wife so I go along most of the time, and put my foot down some of the time.

As a little old lady whose second GREAT GRANDCHILD is about to hit the deck, it's so long ago since I had oversleeping teenagers that I have to think hard to remember, but I certainly didn't drive them - we lived on the Central Coast, a long way from the school and they caught the bus Not much hope of you getting decent kms from a battery charge for a while yet, I'd say, Jim ;D

You ROCK Phoebe. If I ever grow up I want to be like you, still plugged into the interesting things the world has to offer.
Hey, you seem to post a lot at 2:30am. Just getting up, or just going to bed? ;-)
Yeah, when I was growing up I think my hair would need to be on fire before there was any chance of getting a ride to school!

Both, Jim, since I never sleep through the night these days. I get up, check the world is still there on my computer (note: I don't have every modern device, I don't have an iphone ), grab some tea and honey toast (they say honey helps you sleep) and go back to bed ;D

Now I've got my solar panels I find I don't turn my computer on in the middle of the night as I resent paying for electricity then when I get it free from the sun in the middle of the day

Congratulations on your solar panels, Phoebe ;D I have found the combination of solar panels and the LEAF have made me very concious of energy use. I look forward to hearing confirmation that 100 % of your travel is powered by solar

Brian 100% of my travel will be powered by solar when I next recharge my LEAF, which I haven't done since the solar panels were installed. That's if you include walking as solar powered travel ;D

I view photo-synthesis in the plants that we eat, to enable us to walk, under the broad spectrum of solar power

Hey Phoebe,
does your record still stand?
I read there is a website somewhere where you can check how everybody's doing with their mileage? Can anybody check or do you need to be an owner of a Leaf? How does that work? Does the car has its own sim card to communicate with Nissan HQ?

How does that work? Does the car has its own sim card to communicate with Nissan HQ? I have no idea if my record still stands. I don't use any in-car communication with Nissan and I don't have a smart phone. The only way I knew about my record in the first place was that Dean from Nissan Head Office told me.
