I stumbled across this project recently:
It's morphed over it's life so the name isn't really reflective of what it does. Basically connects many EV batteries directly to many solar inverters, converting the battery CAN data into a format the inverter understands. Basically tricks the inverter into thinking it has a standard model HV household battery attached. Just buy say a used Leaf battery, a $20 board, load the firmware, connect the various plugs and Voila. No messing around with re-configuring battery cell connections or aftermarket BMS systems. More or less Plug-and-Play. What's a used 40kW battery cost from a wrecker? Probably significantly less than any 10Kw household battery!
The really cool feature is that it can plug straight into a Leaf Chademo port. It's listed as an "emergencies only" feature, I'm not sure if that's because you'd have to tell the inverter it's got a battery attached each time you connect or if it's a safety disclaimer or what. The disappointing part is that a bare Chademo plug costs over $1,500 even from Aliexpress! That seems nuts for a passive moulded plastic plug!
