Since the release of the ze1 a few years ago I was hoping to see some ze1 owners document their experiences on long distance with their 40/62kwh and any run ins with rapidgate?

I have ZE0 and we have taken it outside of the Sydney metro area exactly once… to Wollongong. ZE0 is not a road-tripping car - it’s a city runabout.
And yeah, it is very quiet here now. We have moved beyond the frontier early-adopter phase where EV owners were scarcer than hen’s teeth, discussing EVs with other owners was a real thrill, and EV meets were actually a thing… to today, where EVs are so common no-one turns heads any more. And we should celebrate that!

Perfectly put EVangelist. I miss the excitement of the early days but I'm happy to see them become mainstream now.
I made it out to Katoomba last weekend and it's do-able with some patience. 230km of driving for about $15 0f electricity still makes it a cheap way to get around. I did feel slightly out of place when charging next to Teslas and an EV6 GT. I'm amazed my partner is not against the idea of attempting to drive to Millthorpe again one day. That's a 500km round trip in a nine bar ZE0.

It's partly because I like to see how much life I can get out of things and partly because we're a single income household. It wouldn't feel responsible to spend money on a car in these expensive uncertain times. I still enjoy driving the Leaf for that matter, even if some of the sheen has come off over the years.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you Feng. Still enjoying my 9 bar original battery leaf. My daily 60 km round trip to work is stress free as there is charging available at work. Though I am wondering if the budget will stretch for an MG4 and what sort trade in the leaf would get.

Got rear ended last week by an uninsured driver, not sure what the fate of my car will be. Both bumpers were damaged (got pushed into the car in front) and the rear tailgate is bent. I'd be pretty disappointed if they write it off because I was curious to see how many kms I'll rack up (currently ~217k kms). I'll probably end up getting another Leaf if it's a write-off.
I've also been spending the past few days tormenting myself over getting the car fixed through insurance vs the guy's panel beater mate who no doubt can do it for cheap as a favour to his uninsured friend. But that would be just a conflict of interest and I'm told it's usually not a good idea because of the potential hassles. Mr uninsured driver did not look rich, but driving uninsured was his mistake.

By the way, sixt has an EV fleet for rental just in case you need it (if your insurance cover for the car rental). Their BYD is cheaper per day than a corolla!!

Booked in for the smash repairs next Friday. I told them I'm fine with wrecker parts since parts take months to arrive from overseas. I know there's a silver Leaf in Melbourne with an intact rear end which would be perfect for my car, but we'll see what they say.
Thanks for telling me about the loaner cars, we've got a spare car in the family that'll tie me over while it's in for repairs.

Lesmando24's Leaf was at 222k last September. He said he doesn't drive it as much as he used to now that he's got an e-bike so maybe one day I stand a chance of beating him. Not that it's a competition.

Got rescheduled to late next month and then I got a call from the assessor today with the intention of writing it off because the cost to repair was approaching total loss. I declined the payout and visited the panel beater so he could better inspect it. We spoke about wrecker parts and I think it'll be okay, but it'll still be a few weeks before something happens. I'll chase it up with them next week.
I'd be happy if it gets done by the end of the year. The panel beater said parts are extremely hard to get and risky for them if they order parts from overseas as there's no returns if they can't use them.
