I’ve just taken delivery of a 2020 ZE1, imported from Japan. The fm radio has been modified to suit the Australian frequencies but the display only shows a choice of stations in Japan. (Everything in the car is in English language). When I tuned into one of our local stations, it displays it as Radio Shinzu (or something similar).
The map display only shows Japan too and I can’t get it to shift to Australia. When I zoom right out to the ‘world’ view it shows a marker in Tasmania, presumably because I entered my home address there but it won’t let me zoom to that point and it just heads back to Japan despite my best efforts.
Off topic, I read something online about the 2019/2020 models having a recall because they possibly wouldn’t hold in Park but I can’t find it again. Does anyone know about this? Will local dealers rectify the fault in an imported car?

Will local dealers rectify the fault in an imported car? I don't know, but I strongly suspect that they won't have anything to do with you. You bypassed their profit generating system. Even though you are a potential paying customer, and they never were going to get dealership money out of you. It's weird, shooting in both feet mentality.

So the Leaf might still think that eg. 89.9MHz is called Shinzu, but pick up whatever the local station is on that frequency. If you have an FM Band Expander (a device that connects to your radio antenna cable), you can pick up local frequencies. It'll still show Japanese frequencies on the radio display, but it'll actually be a different local frequency it picks up. Maps usually only have one region, so it won't have maps for Australia. There was no way for my 2015 Leaf to get Australian maps, even though I asked around. It may be similar for your model. I checked www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au , and you are correct about the parking brake. It's the only one that comes up for the Leaf: www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-001583I'm not sure if Nissan Australia is required to cover recalls for grey imports. Some websites said they don't, but I would've thought it's a safety issue and Nissan Japan covers the costs anyway (but I could be wrong). It's worth asking the responsible government department. If Nissan Aus is not going to cover it, you could just pay for it. Hopefully they can source the parts, and do the exact same thing they did to the Australian delivered Leafs.
