HI. First post here. I have a 40kwh Grey import ZE1 Leaf. Yesterday the speedo stopped working, and a warning came up on the dash "Key System Error, See Owner's Manual". Pro Pilot stopped working as well. This car has had the dash converted from Japanese to English (Chip replacement?). Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts? I haven't checked to see if maybe the dash plugs haven't been plugged back in properly yet. Also, with the Leaf's, do they have a speedo pickup on the driveline somewhere (maybe a faulty unit or loose plug?). Any help would be appreciated.

Exact same issue here. Suddenly no speedo, ProPilot, battery health display amongst others, plus the “Key System Error” message. Did you have any luck diagnosing yours? I tried a generic scantool with no luck, but planning to try Leafspy next.

The fact that the speedometer stopped working and you received a "Key System Error, See Owner's Manual" warning on the dash can be concerning. Here are a few thoughts and suggestions that might help you troubleshoot the problem: Check the dash connections: Since the dash has been converted from Japanese to English, it's possible that there could be a loose plug or connection. Take a look at the connections behind the dash to ensure everything is properly plugged in and secure. Speedometer pickup: Electric vehicles like the Nissan Leaf typically don't have a speedometer pickup on the driveline like traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. The speed information is usually obtained from the vehicle's control systems. However, it's still worth checking for any loose plugs or connections related to the speedometer. Consult the owner's manual: The "Key System Error" warning message suggests there may be an issue with the key system. Take a look at the owner's manual for any specific guidance or troubleshooting steps related to this error message. It may provide insights into possible causes and solutions. nachrichtenmorgen.de/

Hello Russell. Did you get on top of this? I'm in the same boat. There's no point in reading an owners manual. There's no point in giving money to Nissan service people either. Nissan does a Pontious Pilate and washes it hands of grey imports. Nobody seems to know anything. Perhaps you made some discoveries. Please share if possible and I will too. Thanks, Steve
