Hi all, This forum has been an awesome source of information and support from the early days, building a community of the early adopters who gave one of Australia's first BEVs a go. Like many of the original buyers, we haven't been so active on here lately, and we have decided that it is time to sell our LEAF because it is just not practical in a rural area (we have downgraded to an ICE 4WD....and also a Fuga Hybrid for the long distance drives) Carsales ad is here: www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2013-nissan-leaf-aze0-auto/SSE-AD-7216787/?Cr=4 for anyone interested, and of course we can also be researched or contacted through here for anyone who has questions or wants more information about the car. Happy LEAFing everyone

Hello stranger! Yes it's pretty quiet here now, I think I'm one of the few originals who still visit mostly out of habit. Sad to see another one go but it makes good sense. Hope you and Kel have been well. Good luck with the sale!

LEAF OWNER?: Yes

tomkauf rusdy Fengwe haven't dropped in for a while but we have directed prospective Leaf owners here....hopefully they have also benefited as we have from the collective wisdom of the board. To update on the Audi: This does involve comparison to the Leaf, of course. The Leaf really was an excellent intro vehicle, but as duncan noted, for those of us a bit further out of town with a smaller battery and a bit of uphill/open highway, we were really limited to a single trip = entire charge. Hence realising we needed a bigger EV battery. But what put us off Nissan was their refusal to support aftermarket work on batteries/modules for direct imports (unlike NZ). AU isn't up to the same stage of adoption and provision of commercial services amongst auto workshops, so we were looking at having to permanently plug the battery into the home solar and pay the equivalent of the car's purchase price for a replacement battery installed by Nissan. All up, cost of the 2015 Leaf and new battery would have been the equivalent of a new 2020 Nissan Leaf! The Audi is another league (a monster, amazing, etc). Regen braking is different to the Leaf, because with the Leaf you can select that if you aren't accelerating, you are regen braking, but no acceleration in the Audi doesn't equal regen breaking. We can cruise into town without using any more power than we did in the Leaf (we used to be able to start and finish with the same number of kms on the way in - paid for it on the way back with the uphill of course). The charging time for DC is longer (bigger battery) unless using a superfast charger, on the 10amp AC home plug it's 4 days of sunlight to charge fully (95kW battery). One full charge is good for 3 trips in and out of town. Haven't used the "sports" option as the "efficiency" option is enough acceleration! No reverse warning beep for pedestrians, as in the Leaf, which is a downside. That should be standard with EVs because they are noiseless on anything other than gravel. Interestingly the forward/neutral/reverse controls are not as minimalist as the Leaf - more of a auto-transmission ICE look and feel. No foot brake release either. Usage stats available on the central dash, as in the Leaf, but haven't investigated if there is a dongle/internal electronics like LeafSpy. Driving the Leaf is feeling like you are driving an EV (ie something small and light and zippy), driving the Audi feels like driving a big ICE that isn't (if that makes sense). Retro-teen confession - sitting at the traffic lights and leaving the ICEs eating dust on the green signal

Although, since it's an Audi, that becomes less 'cool' though , as people expected you to be fast. Where as in Leaf, people not expecting you to be 'fast' . It looks such a nana's car

Well, sadly we can confirm our LEAF has gone to it's new home, we dropped it off to Steve and Anneka down in Canberra yesterday for 18k which I think was pretty good value. I'll still drop by when I can, but in the meantime all the best everyone, enjoy your electric motoring
