Nissan sent around their semi-regular news email to registered Nissan owners yesterday, and for those who don't automatically bin these, at the end was this item: NEW NISSAN LEAF – BE THE FIRST TO KNOW We are excited to announce the global reveal of the world’s best‑selling electric vehicle, the new Nissan LEAF. Register your interest to keep up to date with its arrival in Australia. The address to register your interest is: www.nissan.com.au/forms/2017-leaf-register-your-interestYou have to enter your name, email address, phone number and postcode. I'll sign up just for interest, very unlikely I'll be buying.

Without an actively cooled battery???.......Yeah.....no dice... Allegedly the long range model coming out next year does have active thermal management - about 5 years too late. When my Gen 1 Leaf experiment comes to an end at some point in maybe the next 5 years or so (and well after I get my Model 3), I doubt I would buy another Tesla simply because it would be overkill for a second car, so I'd be in the market for a city car. A better LEAF could be an option, or a RHD Bolt if/when they come here, Ioniq, Zoe, ... hopefully there will be a lot more choice.

The car in the video has a type 2 socket. I wonder if they plan to sell it here with that or if it's an overseas model brought here for demonstration?

Video mentions that the one they have for demo is a ‘high spec European version’. Seems odd to me as they could have easily taken one from the Japanese market which has the J1772 and Chademo connectors.

Ahh I was watching it at work and skimmed through it. Must have missed that bit. Yes it does seem wasteful to ship a leaf Leaf half way across the world. It bugs me that the Nissan product manager refers to the battery in kW and not kWh.
