So the battery warranty is 5 years right What is the kilometre limit for this 5 years . As now I only have 8 bars. If I purchased the car new in Jan 2013 is the battery still under warranty? Cheers

I am not aware that there is a km limit. See your dealer.

There is a 5 year / 100,000km warranty on the battery. Once you lose the fourth bar (8 remaining), take your LEAF to the authorised dealer. Even if it is out of warranty.

The dealer will look at the battery and put in a report to Nissan Australia. If a replacement battery is needed, it will take approximately 3 months to arrive. You don't need to do anything, dealer should handle the whole thing.

What a disgrace! If you go nowhere with that dealer you should try different ones until you find one with a clue. You should also complain to Nissan on their Facebook page because they sometimes try to help.
Dealer service centres are franchises and are separate to Nissan Australia so it's the luck of the draw to find a competent one. That's the sort of thing which makes me wish for a Tesla.

That is appalling, but you are perfectly within your rights to have the warranty enforced. Ring them up to tell them that you are entitled to have the battery repaired or replaced under the terms of the warranty. If they are not helpful during the phone call, tell them that you want to escalate, and ask who you need to contact. Follow up any phone call with something in writing to them, so that there is a paper trail to show what is happening. Take a photo of your dash with the mileage and your missing bars for your own records. Did the Nissan place give you any paperwork that showed the bar loss? Depending on where you live, going to another Leaf dealer may not be an option, and shouldn't be necessary anyways. Best wishes in not being fobbed off, you are totally in the right. Hopefully someone on this list has a copy of the warranty letter, but the Nissan people are perfectly capable of confirming the length of the warranty.
