I think there is only a time factor, not a distance factor.

5 Year / 100,000km battery warranty. 3 year / 60,000km car warranty.

A letter was sent to owners a few years ago announcing the warranty was extended to 5 years, 100,000km. Are you over or under? I'm keeping a close eye on my car's odometer.

Hi Jesta and all,
So what's happened?
I'm still to get a "confirmed answer" on this. Are Nissan dealers playing silly buggers and NOT honoring the 5 year battery warranty ONCE you go under 9 bars?
-Do you have to take it to the dealer you bought it from for the replacement? It sounds like the ONLY TECH who's done this atleast once in Sydney and knows what he's going is the one at Rockdale.
By law in general, not just in Australia the warranty kicks in ONCE you buy it. So IF you bought the car in March 2014...you have til Mar 2019.
Who else is getting a knock back from a dealer? Or are the dealers doing what they are supposed to by law.
I believe this is a MAJOR issue all Leaf owners would care about.

Nissan dealers do not honour warranties. They log a request to Nissan Australia and once approved, the dealer is paid to perform the repair. To be approved, the dealer may need to run through a series of tests and send back information. This process can take some time.

I'm really happy it worked out and Australian tech are getting practice doing the battery swap. I always seem to be the 1st ones for everything. "Hey Mike look at this...where do you think this wire goes? No idea mate! try that corner spot. Sweet, Thanks!" I wonder what tests or checks they do, that would let them NOT honor the 5 year warranty?

Some dealers are inexperienced and have woeful customer skills. I can't see why the dealer would not call Nissan Australia and request assistance, instead of inferring the customer is making things up. Saying you don't know and you will find out is fine by me. Upsetting the customer just gets everything started on the wrong foot. But a lot of people in business seem to work this way. Unfortunately there are not a lot of certified LEAF dealers either les

The ACCC have been making a real push about car warranty lately. The fact is that you can have either the manufacturer/importer repair a major fault, or the retailer (dealer). They took your money, they don't get to avoid responsibility for what they sold.
