When we got the Leaf and saw its navigation system it looked very cool. But having used it now (or not used it) for a couple of years we can say it is not too good. It won't find well over half of the addresses we put into it. it finds the suburb and the street but when you put in the street number it says Address doesn't exist. On the bottom right of the street address screen it shows the number range in that street that it is meant to know. But often even when you out one of those numbers in it says Address doesn't exist.
It needs a severe update. Is there one available? The car was purchased in 2015.
When compared to putting in an address in the car vs putting an address in an iPhones on Google maps, the Google maps is far superior. You just put in 25 smith st for example it and offers all the near suggestions. Far better than putting in the suburb, then the street then the street # only to be told the Address doesn't exist.

I'm not sure if they update the maps when you get it serviced? The maps are encrypted and tied to the car's VIN so you can't update them yourself, unfortunately.

No chance map updates will be free, probably more like $300.
We found the built in nav terrible and just use google maps (free and real time update) or tomtom app ($29)

They don't update it at services (unless you specifically ask for it and pay for it). My kids find it hilarious as they look at the map screen while we drive along highways built in 2011-12 which aren't on the map

Can anyone confirm if recent maps are actually available for the Leaf, and how much they might cost ?

Best to ask your dealer's service department, but I bet it is in the $00s

Our street doesn't exist in the maps, and we bought our block in 2009, it was subdivided in 2007 or so.
Their data was bad in 2012 when imported and now it's just an almost useless feature.

Can anyone confirm if recent maps are actually available for the Leaf, and how much they might cost ? I asked about new maps when I took the car in for a service on 26 June. The answer was "there is no update available".

Guess it would cost us $205 I'm pretty sure even if we wanted to pay $205, there aren't actually any updated maps that Nissan can sell us?

When I inquired about it during the service last year,I was told that there wasn't one available for the Leaf. Perhaps it is time to start being a squeaky wheel with Nissan. If they can offer updates for their other vehicles...

I was hoping that the new Leaf coming along may have prompted local investment in their map development again, and therefore - perhaps clutching at straws - that Nissan would spend the extra 50c to make it work for 2012 Leaf owners too.
As if!
