I hear that the Qld Govt has released a tender to install 45 DCFC units up the Qld. Coast Gold Coast to Cairns. This is just over $3m to be managed by "Energy Queensland" the govt owned supplier. The roll out is to be completed by end of 2017. It looks like the locations given the coast will be every 40-45 km. It appears co-located at the large public rest areas, with toilets and facilities, unlike other states. From one of the sites listed in tender; • allow for the easy installation of electric vehicle fast-charging infrastructure (including a parking area for up to four light vehicles – with rights over this area to be reserved by the State) as part of the government's electric vehicle superhighway initiative. I understand that Tritium has tendered, lets hope that the Brisbane based, world supplier would get the gig, personally using many DCFC's around Europe, the Tritium is the easiest to use. So looking positive in the Sunshine State...

Queensland showing the way again.
What is wrong with NSW. I am so envious.

Great news! Although the spacing is interesting. The electric highway plan in Tasmania has typical distances of 120-150 km - the reasoning being that the short range EVs will be a minority in a couple of years. 40-50 km seems to be very close - they could effectively half the cost by making them every 80 km - still frequent enough!

I think that 40 to 50km apart sounds good. Gives some leeway when one is out of action, and also means that one is more likely to be handy to where you are actually travelling to. I live at the bottom of the Sunshine Coast, and currently have a fast charger at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast at Noosaville (60km), and a few in central Brisbane, only just within reach of my range. If one goes in on the north side of Brisbane, and the central Sunshine Coast, I'll use them reasonably often, and be able to use the Leaf more often instead of the petrol car.
