Hi all,
As promised I took the Leaf from Earlwood in Sydney to the North Wollongong Fast charger today. This is the one Feng discovered late last year.
Well its now functional. I used it today and it works fine. It's on plugshare, and there are some pics and a map.
It's easily in range from the NRMA Strathfield FC, so if you can make it to Strathfield, now you can also go to Wollongong and beyond!
I'll post more details later.
Cheers,
Mark

Funny, I drove past you this morning at Bexley North and beeped at you while you were on your way, not sure if you saw me. Glad you had better luck with it! I'll have to have another go in the coming weeks.
Given the hot day, did you reach at least seven temperature bars?

I'm not sure if it was 7 bars, but it did go up over half way. Initially I was charging so quick it went up one percent every update on the veefil screen . It took less than 28 minutes to go from 3 bars to 10. I just had time to eat a sandwich and go to the bathroom, and by the time I returned it was done.

Sorry Matt, I didn't notice you beeping me. I think I was a bit focused.

Great news!,
This is massive as they say. Now the explorers have proven the point, the flood gates are open.
What time is this delight open from & to?.

There are no boom gates or anything to stop you going in to the campus, so I guess it's open 24/7. But don't quote me on that. Mark

Do you know if there is a 'contact' number, or similar?.

I don't know. Did you have a contact Feng?

I asked and this was his reply: "It is 24/7 for now, and that is the plan moving forward as well. It will soon be operated as a pay for parking time site (based on time of charging). We prefer that people utilise it during the day to draw from the solar power whenever possible and thus may reflect this in the pricing.".
Also when I had trouble using it last time I tried calling ChargePoint for assistance. I ended up getting a recording instead (it was a Saturday). Glad I wasn't completely stranded!

I have got to go get me some!. My time would be late evening, as I have something to do before, but I suppose I could go early. Better using solar as they suggest.
I do have an emergency point of power close to there if I needed it, and I guess it extends to all. It'll be 10a EVSE though, so time to charge is the issue there only.

Ok, I decided to call UOW, and ask about the DC charger points there. I spoke with a nice lady there in admin, and she went and enquired for me. It transpires that if you are there, you are liable to get a parking infringement whilst charging.. according to security. It appears that the chargers, of which they have two sets on campus are classed as private, and not ChargePoint per se!.
Anyone else know different?. I'm there, or heading to the gong this afternoon, and aiming to top up before the return journey, so this is a high priority point of discussion.

I don't think you will be there for long enough that it will be an issue.
The average security guard would look at the plug sticking in your car, figure it's meant to go there, you seem to know what you are doing, it's all to hard, move along, nothing to see here...

Its aparrently about being in an area not public as such. I'll try to get time to chat with the Dean, or whoever is the head honcho I think, and discuss it with him/her. After all, reading all the literature they have published relating to EV & Enviro matters there, and relating to the campus, it would be interesting to hear it from the top layer on how it all lashes together. Now it may also be prudent for UOW to maybe! charge a 'fee' to assist in matters via ChargePoint themselves, or maybe not at present... I tend to side toward making sure I'm doing the right thing. It can bite me back at times, but I feel the right way is best in the long-run.
