No dollars, give them to NETS. As a paramedic of 37 years, i spent many of them flying in fixed and rotary wing. I have known of Dr Andrew Berry and his work there for over 20 years. Chatted with him at many Aeromedical conferences over many years. Happy to have a coffee ☕️ Stew OK. I'll organise a donation when I am at NETS. Just started a 4 hour charge (at 15A:-) at Marlborough Showgrounds. Gympie tonight and Sunshine Coast tomorrow. DCFC first then I'll find you.

About a week. Currently at Maryborough starting a 4 hour charge. The charging point is on Gyoogle Maps. First time I have seen that. I have several catch ups between here and Sydney so actual time and date still a bit loose.

Really enjoyed the visit Jeff, recharge any time 😉 Yep. Great visit. We have a lot in common. I see more coffee being consumed in my crystal ball. Mike phoned and we talked till my phone battery was flat. We will definitely be also getting into the coffee soon.

I had a good visit (and full charge) with stewartm and Trish at Maroochydore. I had called in at the Noosa Blue Resort but the Tritium Veefil was not quite ready for the world.
From Stewart's place it was an easy run to the Uni DCFC for a (forced) full charge and arrived back on the farm on the smell of an oily rag (hmm).
Off tomorrow to Newcastle and Sydney.
I will be in Sydney from Sat 19th for about 4 days. It would be good to meet up with a few EVers if poss.

Let us know the time when you know. Where are you staying in Syd? Maybe we should try and organise a dinner on Sat, Sun or Mon (preference?) possibly with a few Tesla and/or AEVA folks too. What do you think? .

The DCFC then continued on till I stopped it up near 100%. In Sydney I stay at my sister's place in Manly. Dinner, or any get together, sounds great to me. So far I have no commitments so any day/time. Could be some interest from OzLEAF forum readers too. Are you keen to organise something?

How about Sunday 1pm meeting at the Chargepoint charger on the top level of the Chatswood Westfield carpark then head off for a bite maybe at that big Chinese restaurant there. There is some AEVA interest too. Would that suit you Jeff? Otherwise maybe that evening.

The previous trips from my Queensland base to brother Bill's place in Stockton required 3 overnight stops. Actually, that is from the Gold Coast as I always stop in there to visit friends. I left the Gold Coast at West Burleigh with a charge at Nimbin courtesy of the Rainbow Power Company and a stopover at New Italy roadside stop. Then a stop at Maclean and/or Grafton for a day charge and on to my daughter's place at Urunga for a second night's stopover. A day charge at Kempsey and a third night stop at John's River. Then a couple of short day charges to arrive at Stockton in the late afternoon/evening.
With my recent experience of moving along at a much faster rate I actually traveled from the Gold Coast to Stockton with ONE overnight. The difference I was either driving or charging (mainly at 15A) and never sleeping unless I was charging.
Depart West Burleigh 8pm to Macadamia Castle for a 4 hour charge (J1772) then drive on arriving at Maclean at 5am for a generator charge (15A) for 4 hours. This was not quite enough to get me to Urunga so another generator charge 50km short to arrive at Urunga at 4.30pm. Just in time to visit Julia and family for 5 hours while I charged up the car (and pizza for me). Off at 9.30pm headed for Lex's place at Port Macquarie (with a short generator charge near Kempsey) to arrive at 2am (thanks Lex and family) for a shower and kip while charging (15A) and a dawn coffee. This got me to a friend's place (Brian) at Failford where I stayed for 3 hours or so for a 10A charge. That got me to somewhere near Karuah for a long genny charge and I pulled in to Bill's place at Stockton at 6.00pm.
So this 680km trip took near enough to 48 hours or 340km per day.
This is not the recommended travel method for others:-).
A more leisurely trip to Sydney from Stockton a few days later was a departure at 9am, stop at Tumbi Tyres and More for a 15A charge from 10.30am till 2pm (Saturday) which nearly got me to Manly. I did make it to Chatswood Westfield shopping centre where I stayed for two hours putting in plenty from the J1772 to easily make it to sister Diane's place for dinner at 6pm.
A really nice welcome home on Sunday organised by (anti-clockwise Tesla) Richard was back at Chatswood where we had a big (15 EV) meetup and sumptuous lunch. Thanks everybody.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd November 11.30am will be the official finish at the NETS headquarters at Westmead Children's Hospital.

And back home to NETS after much awareness raising and encouraging of donations ! Did you know that Jeff's East-West walk across Australia was for NETS and he raised $80K which is enough for an ambulance (excl fitout) ! NETS - an inspiring and dedicated team ! .

I got a pair of "unreal" number plates on the way around. And there's a couple of pictures of the dash outside temperature display showing sub zero temperature(s) while I was in Collie WA. And in the high thirties in the Northern Territory (I actually had a 39deg C but can't find the pic).

And a few pictures of the dash display showing off just how much I refined my energy economy. 206 GOM - 165 total range - Number one for regional ranking. and --DRUM ROLL-- Edit: I didn't mention to note the average energy economy. .08kWh/Km

I'm not off-grid so my situation is a bit different. I have 3kw solar and 6.4 kw battery. Since end of August I have not used any grid power to charge my LEAF. I use the EVSE that came with the car. I only got my battery in March and between March and August I used whatever solar there was, the whole 6.4kw from the battery and some from the grid as well. But since then there has been more solar and the LEAF draws up to 2.4kw from solar and just a couple of hundred from the battery so there's plenty left for domestic use without drawing from the grid - so right now I could be off-grid. Not quite sure why you in Queensland, have a problem this time of year. What is your battery capacity?

Not quite sure why you in Queensland, have a problem this time of year. What is your battery capacity? Great contribution, thanks Phoebe. With 3kW of solar, on an average (to good) day, you could be getting 2.4kW. If you used that to put 12kWh into your LEAF, your domestic supply would receive close to zero for the day. My available, usable battery capacity is about 5kWh. But that is approximately the household draw, so LEAF charging is from "excess" solar. Today (and yesterday) were below average sunshine days but I managed to put in 5km with manual 'human in the loop' management today. All of my trips are long ("home" to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, 100km each way) so I start charging with an empty "tank" (9km) and have to fill it to 100% ready for the next trip out of here. It is not advisable to draw more than 10% of the battery capacity so, for 400Ah of battery (I only use 50%) I try to draw less than 40A the rest from solar. I would like it to all be from solar but I can't control the clouds:-). With a smarter EVSE, I could leave it on all day(s) when at home and take advantage of all "excess" solar. The LEAF draws 2.4kW and this is a fixed amount (with the LEAF EVSE) until it is not available or the car turns it off (full enough). If there was a couple of kW of excess solar available, I would like my LEAF to be plugged in and turned on and a smart(er) EVSE to use whatever excess solar was prudent.

My domestic use is usually about 3-4 kwhs a day and I never have to fully charge my LEAF, I don't do the mileage you do so 4-5 hr charge takes it to 100% and then there's still enough daylight, this time of year, to completely recharge the battery as well, so I can draw on the battery after dark and don't need the grid. I have got up to 19 khw of solar in a day. I only charge my LEAF once every 2 or 3 weeks so I can always pick a sunny day . Winter, of course, is a different story, when I often only get 3-4 kwh of solar on a good day and none on a bad day

I will email him and pass on anything I can. There are a lot of gaps between Darwin and Perth with little (or nothing) (along the road) except roadhouses. I even used my generator from time to time which shortened the total time by allowing me to drive on through the night (after a 4 hour charge/sleep).
