I would like to hope so, too.
However, sadly, the power of the alliance of vested interests over the media will ensure that it gets ' buried '.
SEN ( Sustainabile Energy Now ) prepared a detailed plan to take Western Australia to 100% renewables. This was endorsed by the Greens in W.A.s recent State election, but it was largely ignored by the media, and gained no ' traction '.
Thankfully, we still have the freedom to achieve 100% renewables at household level - and that is my aim.

Let us not despair. The economics will win out in the end and we will reach a tipping point (soon I think) when no new fossil fuel burning power plants will be built and soon after that old ones will be shut down and within 20 years (my prediction) we will wonder why we ever used fossil fuels and put up with their inefficiency, pollution and cost. Yes I had a good day driving my leaf and I am feeling optimistic!!!

I agree David, sooner or later the entrenched interested won't be able to hold on in the face of rising costs.
Unfortunately CSG/shale oil has given the industry a glimmer of hope.
In the end, we will have had 100-200years of crazy polluting in the history of this planet, it can't and won't continue forever.
