So far I only know about myself and Datsun2000 here in Adelaide but perhaps there are more of us and we can add Charging options to this thread as we come across them.
Seppettsfield Winery: About 80 km north of Adelaide in the Barossa - I rang the cellar door ahead of time and they were happy to direct me to an outdoor standard powerpoint to charge up. They didn't accept any payment but I did buy a stack of wine and port
Second valley caravan park: About 90 km south of Adelaide - I sent an email to them at info@secondvalleycaravanpark.com and got a fast response that they would be happy to help. This is the text of my email if it is any use.
Hi,
I'm planning on driving my all electric car (Nissan LEAF) to catch the ferry to Kangaroo Island from West Beach.
I think it might be over the range of the car battery which is about 130 km on flat roads but reduces considerably with hills and at highway speeds. Second Valley would be a perfect spot to do a top-up charge to make sure I get to the ferry OK while going for nice stretch of the legs wandering around the jetty and the beautiful surrounds.
Would it be possible to park and charge at the caravan park for 1 to 2 hours in a spot with a convenient power plug? I can use a standard 10 or 15 amp plug outlet and I'd be happy to pay $10 for the service.
Once I'm on the island I'm fine as they have dedicated electric car charging stations all over the island which they charge via www.chargepoint.net.au/. They charge $2.80 per hour which probably gives them a small bit of revenue as the electricity cost would be less that a $1 per hour. It might be worth your while installing the same ChargePoint (or similar) car charger at the caravan park as it is a perfect location for one and as they charge up at about twice the speed as a normal plug would be attractive to electric car drivers such as myself. (there are quite a few of us now)
Thanks for your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.
