Does anyone know or attempted speaker replacement for the speakers in the doors? One of mine has just given up and there is a rattle on each bass note of music I listen to. Looking at Utube I see the oroginal speakers are terrible. No magnet and very thin This is obviously to save weight but I am a musician. I need the stereo to be working well. Anyone had experience replacing the speakers? From what I can find out they are 3.5", 2 ohm. I can see that it is possble to change yourself if you buy a kit to remove the door trim, however I'm willing to pay $100 for someone else to do it. Replacement speakers don't seem too expensive but which ones? I can see that I will also have to cut off the connectors to attach them. My sparky friend can help with that. also can anyone verify the size of the speakers or what size will fit?

Where are you Jake. If Sydney I could help R&R if you pick the speakers, should be straightforward.
Keeping in mind Aus spec cars may be different, the US workshop manual says the front speakers are: Front door speaker • φ16.0 cm speaker is installed to the bottom of the front door. • Sound signal is input from the AV control unit to output mid and low range sounds.
Maximum input : 40 W Rated input : 20 W Impedance : 2 Ω
FWIW, rear is in the door and identical size and spec to the front, and the tweeters are: Tweeter • φ3.5 cm tweeter for high-range sounds is installed in the front pillar. • Sound signal is input from the AV control unit to output high range sounds. Maximum input : 40 W Rated input : 1 W Impedance : 4 Ω

I am thinking of doing it myself, but I am a little worried about getting the door trim off. Looks tricky and I don't want to break any of those 9 plastic clips. I am not really good at the DIY stuff. Amazingly enough the buzz disappeared today, but I want to change the speakers anyway. They original ones are so bad and people in the states are reporting a big improvement in sound quality when they are replaced with something decent.

you should give it a go, the hardest part is the door trims and they aren't really that hard. There is generally a screw or 2 around the handles or under the power window switches, the top is hooked in next to the window and the rest will be held in with a series of clips every 10-15cm around the sides and bottom. Just take it carefully and you'll be fine. The speaker will have 2 wires, if you can't simply plug and unplug the easiest way to join wires is with something like this www.jaycar.com.au/Tools-%26-Soldering/Hand-Tools/Crimpers/Automotive-Crimp-Tool-with-Connectors/p/TH1848, and will either bolt (or more likely screw) into the door and yes, generally base model car sound uses very cheap speakers, and even premium setups tend to be average at best. My ears are terrible and I can't hear the difference but I know lots of people who swear by quality aftermarket speakers
