I can't tell if the noises were always there and I've never noticed till now. Do any other owners get these?
1) A rubbing noise when turning the steering wheel quickly while the car is at a low speed, such as when doing a U-turn. It sounds like something ribbed inside the dashboard is making contact with the steering wheel mechanism while it turns and makes a plastic rubbing/vibrating noise.
2) It sounds like a faint gurgling noise coming from under the bonnet while the car is on and idle. It might be the sound of coolant being circulated but I don't remember it sounding like it's gurgling. You can hear it from within the cabin.
3) When the A/C fan turns on you can hear it vibrate. It might have been after I had my car repaired, but it's pretty noticeable at first. It sounds like it kicks in with a louder "sproing!" sound along with a vibration before settling into a more regular A/C noise.
Separate thing: How often do people get flashed by oncoming traffic because people think your highbeams are on? I think that's one of the drawbacks of having such large headlights. I once had my dad drive the LEAF while following me and they're noticeably brighter than normal. I think I get flashed about once every week or two.
Not aware of any noises, but I am very deaf and probably wouldn't hear them anyway. Never had anyone flash headlights at me, in fact sometimes wonder if they are on as seem to do so little.
I can't tell if my A/C compressor is unusually noisy or if it's always been like that. Does anyone else hear their compressor when it turns on? It makes a muted clattering noise under the bonnet and for me you can hear it inside the cabin.
My car now makes a new noise: It sounds like a spring under tension in the steering that twangs when you turn at low speed. You can feel it through the steering wheel. The MNL forum has precedent: www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=7864

My hearing is so bad I probably wouldn't hear anyway! But thanks for the alert.

I haven't heard a rubbing sound while turning, but I have noticed some knocking sounds. I'm thinking it must be the CV joints.
I've definitely had people flash their lights at me when driving at night. I also had a car in front of me pull over to the side of the road, wait for me to pass and then pull back in behind me. I have wondered whether the headlights might be too bright.
I have a spring twang, but I also have aftermarket springs and i blame them. It doesn't cause a problem, just the noise as it resets slightly going from full droop where it must be loosely capture to getting weight back on it. Going across a gutter or similar at 45o causes it most often as it causes the biggest change in spring load
Mine is going in for a noise that's maybe similiar... At low speed turns I have a bad Strut bearing and could be mistaken for a bad cv joint if you weren't sure what either sounded like. Fortunatley it's all under warranty but I still have to get the car there and wait for it to be completed... Looks like the TCU will also be another trip, I can only hope that both items could be completed at the same time
Both struts were changed due to them having corrosion. The new struts just seem to have a rubberized coating or top to them, under warranty so I'm happy. Around 2 moths ago only one of the two strut bearings made a noise while turning and was replaced as well. Not to be outdone, the other bearing has now started to squeak or rumble while turning and will be replaced next week. I was hoping the 2G tcu could be replaced at the same time but I think its wishfull thinking

Flashing lights. Could be you're famous, speed check or new driver learning which button to press. If I were you, option one is best!.
Pulling over. Sometimes I pull over to let drivers past if they're crawling over my bumper. Whiplash injuries have little appeal. Often it's difficult for them to sit behind a vehicle on the speed limit.

Energy in the LEAF=it's weight, multiplied by the speed I need, squared!.

Dang. Now it's my Leaf's turn making this 'twang' noise.
Looks like the pattern is consistent from other forums (such as this as well). From parking, reverse, and turn. Twang!!

Mine LEAF was doing that and it was fixed by replacing the front strut top bearings.

From googling (as I have no idea what that is), looks like this might be related to the rusty strut? It makes sense as the sound is coming from the right front strut.
I've had my Leaf for a couple of months now and regularly get flashed at when driving at night. Mind you I find the high beam halogens don't exactly provide much extra oomph over the LEDs!
There's one noise I've noticed which is a bit of a mystery. When I turn off the power and sit in the car, after about 20 seconds there's a noise which I can only describe as what you would get from windscreen wiper rubber moving back and forth through one cycle across the windscreen. Anyone know the origins of this 'wiping' noise?
I have a relatively new noise - I think it's the coolant pump - much louder than it used to be and starts a minute or so after I turn the car on... sounds almost like a compressor. I just opened the bonnet while it was making the nose and there is also some faint gurgling coming from the coolant container and air bubbles... ? Problem??
Is it on all the time or only when the A/C is on? Mine does that when it's on. I can't remember if it was there when I first got the car but it's been like that for years without problems. Funny enough I just scrolled to the first post here and it was me asking about it four years ago.

Not on all the time but not related to the A/C. I think it's the coolant that cools the inverter/charger. I think it's only been like that for the last 6 months - can't remember - but definitely was not that noisy before. It comes on about 1 min after turning car on and is there for most of the time while driving then turns off seconds after I turn the car off. I will try and get a video.
Ok here is the noise... starts dialing up like an plane taking off at 6 secs... car had been on for about 2 minutes. You can also hear and see the bubbles in the coolant. youtu.be/R3S-BSOsyDw AC not on.

Any chance it's low on coolant? There are two coolant reservoirs, the one in your video and one next to the left headlight (beside the fuse box). Checked them both?

I’ve just checked her in for service tomorrow and raised this as something to look at. Hoping that’s all it is and not a major part replacement! Also have another issue with screen permanently in sleep mode - wakes up if I press a button but goes back under in 5secs. So they are looking at that one too. Might end up being an expensive service!
Feng did you sort out that rubbing noise at the top of this thread?
"A rubbing noise when turning the steering wheel quickly while the car is at a low speed, such as when doing a U-turn. It sounds like something ribbed inside the dashboard is making contact with the steering wheel mechanism while it turns and makes a plastic rubbing/vibrating noise"
I have had a similar noise for a while now so it's on my list for tomorrow's service. Happens when I do a u-turn and sound is generally how you describe. Was it the struts?
