I'm just curious to find out real world range of the BEV bmw I3 vs Nissan leaf (Gen 1, Aus spec). Comparing the two vehicles for your daily commute, do you find the BMW gets slightly more range or too close to call?

I'll reply to my own thread I just pulled the trigger on the new 94ah i3. I love my leaf, but the extra range up here in the mountains will be perfect. What to do with the leaf now...

Congratulations on the upgrade, did you get the BEV or REx? When are you expecting it?
I've driven up the mountains and it was always a stretch. Sounds like a reasonable idea for you to make the switch especially if your battery starts to fade. If you end up selling privately be sure to mention the forum to the next owner!

Will do! I got the BEV and expecting to take delivery late March. Probably sell the leaf sooner than later though and have to drag the old ICE out of the back paddock

I'd like to know the answer to your original question though, if anyone here has the experience to answer? The BMW i3 has a slightly smaller capacity battery, but a lot of effort in materials and build to keep in light and efficient. I read that the larger capacity i3 only costs $2000 more than the first generation with the smaller battery, quite a reasonable price difference for a third more capacity.

We went with the platinum silver with the turbine wheels. I won't get it till late march so a long wait ahead! The extra range for us will do about 98% of our driving needs. Unfortunatley we still need a car that can tow, but it's days are numbered I'm sure. Super excited

Each to their choice, either way, EV is EV. Good tech.
I'm just not that struck on the interior of them am afraid. It appears wrong to me. I had a prod around one before "hunting Leaf'sss", and I simply failed to get the connection with the interior layout & design.

Too each there own or any other adage can apply there lol. I'm thinking the way BMW have maded the wood come back in a modern car is awsome. The larger battery charger relative to the Leaf was always a plus, but the extra range was the tipping point for us.

I won't get it till late march so a long wait ahead! What's the reason for the long delay? It's a car in production, I would have thought it shouldn't be more than 6 weeks.
