We had a great little meet up on Sunday! So thanks to everyone who has organised similar things that gave me the idea to do one here in Christchurch. The final tally was 14 EVs! There were 10 Leafs, two BMW i3s (first time I'd seen an i3 - very nice), and two conversions - one of which, the Hyundai, was converted in (and imported from) Australia (the yellow car in the photo). After the meet, some of the us drove back to Christchurch via Gebbies Pass and the Summit Road - a very scenic "goat track " - and of course very quiet in our electric cars. And, as luck had it, it was a cracker of a winter's day. If you would like to see an 'EV Fly-by' check out this link here: www.facebook.com/ChchEVOG/videos/1463228397311020/Check out the very last Leaf - a different colour grey to our 2011/2012 Leafs - which was a 2014 Japanese imported model - fresh off the boat.

Back by popular demand - another Christchurch EV meet! This time we thought we'd try something a little different. In recognition of the Japanese origin of the Leaf, it's been suggested we have a Pecha Kucha night! Pecha Kucha is a presentation style in which 20 slides are presented, each shown for 20 seconds, which works out at around 7 minutes for each talk. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PechaKuchaSo if we could have 3-4 volunteers to talk about some topic that is more or less EV related (eg, an electric car you've owned in the past, process of importing a Leaf, charging your Leaf with solar panels, why the world needs more EVs, your electric car conversion, etc, etc). When: 5pm, Sunday 27th September Where: Venue TBA Bring a plate and a mate and we'll have some chit chat and chow between and after our Pecha Kucha presentations.

Here's a video of our last EV Meet in case anyone is interested: www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154230521763625But wait - there's more: But I'm guessing that range might be an issue for all you Australian based Leaf owners, but if any of you dare to drive across the Tasman, join in on our NZ Record attempt for the largest gathering of EVs in New Zealand. We need to beat 31, which is currently held by Whangarei. evolocity.co.nz/bigscience/

Here are some videos of our Christchurch event, where we assembled the largest gathering of Electric Vehicles ever seen in New Zealand (at least in this centuary), including 34 BEVs and 3 PHEVs (16 Leafs, 9 conversions, 3 BMW i3s, 2 i-MiEVs, 1 Nissan e-NV200, 1 vintage, 1 custom solar powered car, 1 motorbike, 2 Mitsubishi Outlanders, and an Audi). Cars assembled at around 9:30am on Saturday, and it was just so thrilling seeing EV after EV after EV turning up one after the other after the other ... magic! www.facebook.com/megan.reynolds.75054/videos/10204921042095342/www.facebook.com/evolocitynz/videos/843624479084458/www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ5R-0l7wdYHope you enjoy the videos!

The YouTube footage is about rugby? Oh, goodness - how did that happen - I'm not quite sure how that third link got in there - there was only supposed to have been the first two links

So much space under the e-NV200 hood! Yes, you are so right! It's amazing how much room there is in an engine bay when you rip out an ICE and put in an electric engine. The e-NV200 certainly is a nice little unit. The one in the video was privately imported from the UK. I think it's the only one in the country at the moment, but I understand another one is on its way.
