Due to circumstance I found myself driving back from Brisbane on the M1 north Friday afternoon. The 4" an hour rain was horrific. The impact on driving through continuos surface water, wipers on full, headlights and demist at 40km/h rapidly reduced the charge. My ability to make Brisbane to Sunshine Coast was impossible and I had to get charge at beerwah until lightning took out the power. If faced with torrential rain, park up unless you have on a short distance on a good charge. A loss of 30-50% range in torrential rain. On a more positive note 30-50cm of water unexpectedly encountered did not affect the Leaf at all. And before you criticise, I am a safe driver, 35 years a paramedic I don't take risks. But I now fully understand that on a dark road, with pouring rain, the difference between very wet road and road water is impossible to discern especially if not following other cars. I scared myself but the Leaf had no issues with the water. I don't want to ever do that again. Sadly 5 didn't make it from that storm.

I didn't leave home for 8 days when the storm struck here in the Hunter. Fortunately we were warned the storm was on it's way and got enough food in the day before to last. Road at the bottom of my hill is still flooded. I didn't attempt to leave for all that time as much because I didn't want to risk hail damage as much as anything else. Night in heavy rain is very scary

We got a couple of mm here in Perth. Some bloke fainted in the main street and we had to throw a bucket of dust over him to bring him round.

Yep, rain and puddles chews up a LOT more power than the heater!! I found this out the hard way running out of power 22 meters from my garage!!

Les I called into a mates place and plugged in my clipper creek 15 into his garage van outlet. I carry both the standard Nissan one and the CC in case I use a Showgrounds 15 amp outlet.

Cool, I had tried to get a charger installed at Australia zoo, but they didn't want it. Thought maybe some one else had put one in.
